Dit wordt jouw functie Veilig Thuis krijgt dagelijks meldingen binnen van vermoedens van huiselijk geweld. Soms eenmalig, en soms terugkerend. Aan de hand van zo’n melding is soms extra onderzoek nodig om de veiligheidssituatie van het gezin waar het om gaat beter te kunnen beoordelen. Dit onderzoek doe jij als medewerker Veilig Thuis. Je gaat bij mensen op huisbezoek en je gaat met ze in gesprek. Het kan zijn dat je de gezinsleden zelf spreekt, of juist de melder van de mishandeling, bijvoorbeeld familie, bekenden, of professionals. Het doel van de gesprekken is om in te schatten hoe veilig of onveilig de situatie is voor het slachtoffer, en welke hulpverlening er nodig is om de situatie veilig te krijgen. Heb je genoeg informatie verzameld, dan stel je samen met collega’s zoals een gedragswetenschapper of een vertrouwensarts een advies op voor het gezin. Afhankelijk van je advies zet je de benodigde hulpverlening in gang. Als medewerker Veilig Thuis werk je veelal zelfstandig; je plant je eigen afspraken in en je bent verantwoordelijk voor jouw eigen onderzoeken. Als Medewerker Veilig Thuis ga je

- Gesprekken voeren bij mensen thuis, bijvoorbeeld met ouders, kinderen en degene die de melding heeft gedaan;

- De informatie die uit jouw onderzoek is gekomen rapporteren;

- Overleggen met jouw collega’s, een gedragswetenschapper en/of een vertrouwensarts om samen tot een advies te komen over de situatie;

- Passende hulpverlening in gang zetten, door die aan te vragen bij de gemeente of de betrokkenen dit te laten doen;

- Naderhand telefonisch checken of de gemaakte afspraken met Veilig Thuis zijn nagekomen en of die het gewenste effect hebben.
