Een gastles geven over je beroep, helpen tijdens een sportdag, verhalen vertellen, koken, klussen of juist je creatieve talent inzetten? De school werkt vanuit het Primary Years Programme (PYP). Binnen dit onderwijsprogramma staat niet alleen kennis centraal, maar ook ontdekken, samenwerken en actief betrokken zijn bij de wereld om je heen. Daarbij kunnen mensen uit de omgeving van de school volgens het team een belangrijke rol spelen. Van gastles tot helpen bij een activiteit Wie wil bijdragen, hoeft geen ervaring in het onderwijs te hebben. Er zijn verschillende manieren om mee te doen. Zo kun je kinderen iets vertellen over je beroep, talent of passie, maar ook ondersteunen bij een excursie, sportdag of cultureel evenement. Ook praktische of creatieve vaardigheden zijn welkom. Denk aan helpen op het schoolplein, koken, organiseren, klussen of samen met leerlingen iets maken. Zelfs wanneer je maar af en toe een uurtje beschikbaar hebt, kan dat volgens de school al waardevol zijn. Het idee is dat verschillende ervaringen, culturen, verhalen en perspectieven bijdragen aan de ontwikkeling van kinderen en tegelijkertijd de verbinding tussen de school en de omgeving versterken. Kinderen krijgen zo de kans om ook buiten de gebruikelijke lessen kennis te maken met nieuwe onderwerpen en mensen. Daarbij staan eigenschappen als nieuwsgierigheid, zorgzaamheid, communicatie en reflectie centraal. Verschillen worden juist benut om kinderen kennis te laten maken met verschillende perspectieven. Meedoen? Wie een talent, idee, verhaal of netwerk heeft en het leuk vindt om iets voor de leerlingen te betekenen, kan contact opnemen met de school.
