The posting

Als penitentiair bewakingsassistent zorg je mee voor een menselijke en veilige omgeving voor gedetineerden, je collega’s en bezoekers. Je bent het eerste aanspreekpunt van de gedetineerden en dus een belangrijke schakel in een zinvolle detentie en een vlotte terugkeer naar de samenleving.

  • Je begeleidt gedetineerden van onthaal tot vrijlating.
  • Gedetineerden die vragen hebben of een luisterend oor nodig hebben, kunnen altijd bij jou terecht. Als je zelf niet kan helpen, zorg je er voor dat ze bij de juiste persoon terecht kunnen.
  • Bij crisismomenten sta je klaar om collega’s snel te helpen.
  • Je observeert en begeleidt het bezoek, de wandeling en andere activiteiten.
  • Je houdt toezicht bij bijzondere activiteiten van bepaalde groepen gedetineerden, zoals mensen met een psychische stoornis.

Daarnaast zijn er nog volgende veiligheidstaken:

  • Je controleert de toegang van medewerkers, bezoekers en gedetineerden.
  • Je fouilleert gedetineerden en controleert verblijfsruimtes waar nodig.
  • Je rapporteert verdachte gebeurtenissen en inbreuken.
  • Je inspecteert de veiligheidsinstallaties en rapporteert defecten.
  • Je bedient oproep- en camerasystemen, elektrische deuren enz.

Je werkt in ochtend-, namiddag- of nachtdiensten, ook tijdens het weekend en feestdagen.

Om je goed voor te bereiden op je taak, zal je het eerste jaar opleiding volgen en praktijkervaring opdoen. Na dit eerste jaar kan je dan volwaardig aan de slag als penitentiair bewakingsassistent.

Deze functie houdt een rechtstreeks en zichtbaar contact met het publiek in. In dit geval vereist de regelgeving (artikels 7 en 8 van het Koninklijk Besluit van 2 oktober 1937) dat het personeelslid geen enkel zichtbaar teken van religieuze, filosofische, politieke of vakbondsovertuigingen draagt om de openbare dienst op een neutrale manier te vertegenwoordigen tijdens deze contacten.
