Wil je patiëntgebonden zorg combineren met translationeel onderzoek naar risicofactoren, biomarkers en geavanceerde MRI-scans? Dan is deze Ph-positieD bij het Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen (UMCG) iets voor jou! De afdeling Neurologie zoekt een gemotiveerde arts-onderzoeker om onderzoek naar cerebrale amyloid angiopathie (CAA) landelijk en lokaal op te zetten. Over het onderzoek Elk jaar worden in Nederland meer dan 5.000 mensen getroffen door een hersenbloeding. Een van de meest voorkomende oorzaken is CAA. Dit is een aandoening waarbij het eiwit amyloid-beta zich ophoopt in kleine hersenvaatjes. De bloedvaten worden brozer en kunnen vaker gaan bloeden maar er kunnen ook kleine infarctjes ontstaan. In Nederland kennen we ook een erfelijke vorm van CAA, Dutch-type hereditary CAA (D-CAA of ook wel de Katwijkse ziekte genoemd). Recent onderzoek suggereert dat CAA mogelijk ook overgedragen kan worden door het gebruik van kadaver materiaal dat vroeger bij neurochirurgische operaties werd gebruikt of door bloedtransfusies: een iatrogene vorm van CAA. Hierover is nog weinig bekend en zou onze gedachten over hoe CAA en hieraan gerelateerde aandoeningen zoals de ziekte van Alzheimer op revolutionaire wijze veranderen. Dat kan hier Vici-beurs voor onderzoek naar hersenziekte CAA: toch niet alleen een ouderdomsziekte? Wat ga je doen De afdeling neurologie is opzoek naar een enthousiaste arts-onderzoeker die het onderzoek naar CAA in het UMCG, onder supervisie van een expert op het gebied, wil opzetten. De focus zal liggen Ja, erg lop iatrogene factoren bij CAA en heeft als hoofddoel te onderzoeken of CAA een door bloed overdraagbare aandoening is in plaats van een neurodegenerati...
