Om succesvol te zijn in deze specifieke rol, herken je jezelf in het volgende profiel:

  • Diploma: Je bent in het bezit van een bachelordiploma Verpleegkunde MET specialisatie psychiatrie. Een sterke affiniteit of ervaring met de forensische psychiatrie is een absolute plus.
  • Mentale veerkracht: Je bent emotioneel stabiel, bezit een gezonde dosis relativeringsvermogen en raakt niet snel onder de indruk van een complexe doelgroep.
  • Onbevooroordeelde blik: Je kunt de gepleegde feiten loskoppelen van de mens die voor je staat. Jouw prioriteit is de zorgplicht.
  • Communicatieve duizendpoot: Je communiceert helder en kordaat, zowel naar gedetineerden toe als in de overdracht naar je team en justitiële partners.
  • Flexibiliteit & Veiligheidsbewustzijn: Je hebt respect voor de strikte veiligheidsprocedures van de inrichting en bent flexibel naar werkuren (wisselende shiften en weekendwerk schrikken je niet af).

Als psychiatrisch verpleegkundige ben je het eerste aanspreekpunt voor de mentale zorgvragen binnen de muren. Je taken zijn heel divers:

  • Psychiatrische triage & opvolging: Je voert intakegesprekken met nieuwe gedetineerden, schat hun psychische kwetsbaarheid in en volgt lopende psychiatrische trajecten nauwgezet op.
  • Crisisinterventie: Je herkent escalerend gedrag, acute psychoses of suïcidaal gedrag in een vroeg stadium en reageert kalm, professioneel en de-escalerend.
  • Medicatiebeheer: Je bent verantwoordelijk voor het correct voorbereiden, controleren en bedelen van medicatie.
  • Multidisciplinair overleg: Je rapporteert observaties aan de behandelende psychiaters en psychologen en stemt af met het penitentiair bewakingspersoneel om de veiligheid en zorg te garanderen.
  • Psycho-educatie: Je ondersteunt gedetineerden in het omgaan met hun problematiek (bv. verslaving, persoonlijkheidsstoornissen) met het oog op hun welzijn en toekomstige re-integratie.
