Een eeuwenoude balk in een monument vervang je niet zomaar door een nieuwe. Dat is precies waar jouw werk als restauratiemedewerker hout bij Van Lierop om draait. Je werkt aan onderdelen en constructies in monumenten en andere karakteristieke gebouwen. Daarbij combineer je traditioneel timmerwerk met moderne restauratietechnieken. Je verwijdert aangetaste delen, maakt nieuwe onderdelen passend bij de bestaande constructie en gebruikt specialistische technieken om origineel materiaal zoveel mogelijk te behouden. Het resultaat? Geen seriewerk, maar vakwerk waarbij je nauwkeurig moet kijken, meten en werken. Wat je vandaag herstelt, kan daarna weer tientallen jaren mee. Jouw werkdag Vanuit Boxtel ga je met je werkbus naar verschillende restauratieprojecten. Op locatie ga je aan de slag met onderdelen en constructies die hersteld moeten worden. Stel dat een gedeelte van een oude balk door houtrot is beschadigd. Dan vervang je niet automatisch de hele balk. Je verwijdert het aangetaste gedeelte en herstelt alleen wat nodig is. Met deelvervanging maak je een nieuw stuk passend bij de bestaande constructie. In andere situaties gebruik je epoxy om een beschadigd onderdeel te herstellen of te versterken. Een volgende klus kan er weer heel anders uitzien. Je werkt bijvoorbeeld aan een ander onderdeel van een monumentaal pand waarbij zoveel mogelijk van het oorspronkelijke materiaal behouden moet blijven. Juist dan komen jouw nauwkeurigheid, technisch inzicht en gevoel voor timmerwerk goed van pas. Je werkt zelfstandig aan je werkzaamheden, maar kunt altijd terugvallen op collega's met veel kennis van restauratie. Nog niet met iedere techniek gewerkt? Geen probleem.
