The posting

The R&D Center of a global leading ICT company, based in Amsterdam.

We are looking for a senior architect to drive the design and development of advanced OS-level system performance technologies and Hardware-software-chip co-optimization for next-generation computing devices.

The role focuses on system scheduling and performance optimization across CPU, GPU, memory, operating system, and chipset layers, balancing performance, power consumption, and thermal constraints. You will work across operating system, Hardware, chipset, runtime, and application layers, driving technologies from architecture and research through implementation and deployment on end devices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Hardware-software-chip co-optimization and integrated system scheduling technologies, including CPU/GPU/DDR scheduling, priority management, task grouping, core selection, frequency scaling, resource allocation, and performance/power/thermal-aware scheduling.
  • Research and optimize application performance at the OS level, improving application interaction, responsiveness, animation smoothness, and overall system performance.
  • Design and optimize high-performance core system modules and resolve critical system performance bottlenecks.
  • Research and develop high-performance APIs, runtimes, application frameworks, and performance-oriented system technologies.
  • Track advanced industry technologies and academic research and contribute to future technical roadmaps for system performance, scheduling, and Hardware-software co-optimization.
  • Drive technical solutions from architecture and research through implementation, validation, and deployment on end devices.

Strong expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • OS or kernel performance optimization
  • CPU/GPU/DDR scheduling and system resource management
  • Hardware-software or chipset-level co-optimization
  • Power- and thermal-aware scheduling and optimization
  • Application or runtime performance optimization
  • High-performance system, runtime, or framework design

In addition:

  • Strong understanding of operating system architecture and system performance fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience identifying and resolving complex system performance bottlenecks.
  • Proven ability to deliver measurable performance improvements in real-world systems or products.
  • Strong problem-solving and engineering execution capabilities, with the ability to drive solutions from architecture and design through implementation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate effectively across international research and engineering teams.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with Linux, Android, or other modern operating-system platforms.
  • Experience with kernel scheduling, Dvfs/frequency scaling, heterogeneous computing, graphics/GPU systems, memory systems, or chipset-level optimization.
  • Experience working across Hardware and software boundaries on complex computing platforms.
  • Experience translating research or advanced technical concepts into production-level system technologies.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
