De directie Verkeer en Openbare Ruimte (V∨) heeft in 2023 de afdeling Water opgericht om regie te voeren op de steeds complexer wordende stedelijke wateropgaven en de opdrachtgeversrol richting Watermaatschappij Amsterdam (voorheen Stichting Waternet) en Waterbedrijf Rijn en Kennemerland (WRK) te versterken. De afdeling is hét strategische aanspreekpunt voor interne en externe partners en richt zich op beleidsvorming, regievoering en bestuurlijke advisering. Met de ontvlechting van Stichting Waternet per 1 januari 2026 en de doorontwikkeling van de Drinkwatertaken (DW) en de Amsterdamse Riool en Watertaken (ARW) staat de afdeling Water voor twee grote transities: De integratie van de ARW-taken (circa 550 medewerkers, processen en systemen) binnen de gemeente Amsterdam; De verzelfstandiging van de drinkwaterkolom. Als strategisch (beleids) adviseur Water werk je aan de meest complexe en bestuurlijk gevoelige wateropgaven van Amsterdam. Je geeft richting aan beleid, voert regie op het opdrachtgeverschap richting de waterpartners en coördineert het kernteam van de afdeling Water.
