The Agfa-Gevaert Group develops, produces and distributes an extensive range of analog and digital imaging systems and IT solutions, mainly for the printing industry and the healthcare sector, as well as for specific industrial applications.

Are you about to finish your degree with a thesis? Do you want to apply your software engineering skills to a real world product used in medical imaging?

We are offering a thesis position focused on modernizing a legacy software component and better integration into the existing quality assurance infrastructure.

During your project you will use C++, our internal development framework, AI-assisted development tools and modern continuous integration (CI) practices to migrate an existing code base to a new framework and establish a robust automated testing environment. You will collaborate closely with imaging specialists and development experts to ensure the software meets the high quality standards needed for medical applications.

Job Description

During your project you will use C++, our internal development framework, AI-assisted development tools and modern continuous integration (CI) practices to migrate an existing code base to a new framework and establish a robust automated testing environment. You will collaborate closely with imaging specialists and development experts to ensure the software meets the high quality standards needed for medical applications.

Your Role

  • Design, implement, and improve automated unit and regression tests
  • Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate code migration, test generation,

refactoring, and documentation

  • Establish and monitor code coverage metrics
  • Integrate testing, coverage analysis, and regression checks into the existing CI/CD pipeline
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize future software migration efforts
  • Use and improve best practices for integrating AI coding assistants into software modernization workflows
  • Collaborate with senior software developers and imaging experts to validate functionality and quality

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong affinity with software development, testing, automation and development infrastructure
  • Experience with C++ development, experience with other programming languages is a plus
  • Familiarity with git and CI/CD concepts is an asset
  • Curious and eager to explore new tools, technologies, and environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English/Dutch and a collaborative mindset
