Een bijzondere samenwerking in Druten: hoe Het Gastenhuis en de gemeente samen kansen creëren Het Gastenhuis Druten biedt een veilige, rustige en huiselijke omgeving voor de cliënten van Leonie. Het is een plek waar iedereen mee mag doen en waar je de kans krijgt om te groeien. Volgens Nora ligt daar precies de kracht van de samenwerking. Want pas als iemand zich veilig voelt, ontstaat er ruimte om vragen te stellen, iets nieuws te proberen en jezelf weer te ontwikkelen. " De een begint met een vast koffiemoment in de week. De ander komt meerdere dagen per week, ondersteunt bij een activiteit of pakt langzaam meer taken op. Wat iemand doet, hangt af van de persoon en de situatie. Cliënten oefenen met vaardigheden die op een werkplek van belang zijn: afspraken nakomen, op tijd komen, verantwoordelijkheid nemen en samenwerken. Soms is iemand eerst terughoudend, maar na verloop van tijd nemen ze steeds wat meer initiatief. Ze raken meer op hun gemak, krijgen vertrouwen in zichzelf en durven weer mee te doen. Een van de cliënten die via Leonie bij Het Gastenhuis Druten terechtkwam, is een vrouw uit Eritrea. In Het Gastenhuis vond ze een plek waar ze rustig kon beginnen en tegelijk haar taal verder kon ontwikkelen. Omdat ze graag iets met kinderen wil doen, kijken Leonie en Nora nu samen verder naar een mogelijke volgende stap bij een kinderdagverblijf. De band tussen Nora en Leonie maakt deze samenwerking sterk. Ze vertrouwen elkaar, spreken eerlijk uit wat wel en niet werkt en houden allebei hetzelfde doel voor ogen: iemand verder helpen in de samenleving. Je bent ook stralend voorbeeld, aanspreekpunt en sfeermaker. Je bouwt mee aan een warm thuis voor mensen met dementie. Je krijgt de tijd en de ruimte om aandacht te geven.
