Als verpleegkundige ben je medebehandelaar in het revalidatieproces van de volwassen patiënt die te maken heeft met de (neuromusculaire) gevolgen van een ongeval, ziekte of aandoening. Hierbij is het jouw doel om te zorgen voor een zo goed mogelijk behandelklimaat, waarin de nadruk ligt op het samen beslissen met de patiënt. Je bekijkt samen met de patiënt wat er thuis nodig is en past de behandeling hierop aan. Een goede band tussen de verpleegkundige en de patiënt staat hierbij centraal. "Wat zo mooi is aan het werken in de revalidatiezorg, is dat je veel contact hebt met je patiënten. Je revalideert de patiënt naar huis, waarbij je duidelijk de vooruitgang ziet. Je werkzaamheden als verpleegkundige bestaan onder andere uit: - Ondersteunen/ begeleiden bij dagelijkse zorg; - Voeren van overleg met arts/behandelaar; - Uitvoeren van verpleegtechnische handelingen; - Het persoonlijk begeleiden van patiënten; - Bieden van werkbegeleiding; - Deelnemen aan werkgroepen. Revaliderend werken is hierbij de rode draad van je werkzaamheden. Je enthousiasmeert collega's, leerlingen en stagiaires tijdens je werk en draagt bij aan een positief leer/werkklimaat. Je helpt de patiënt zijn of haar grenzen te verleggen en het beste uit zichzelf halen, waarbij je ook je eigen grenzen elke dag weer probeert te verleggen. Je staat hierin niet alleen: je komt te werken in een team van verpleegkundigen, verzorgenden en therapeuten die vanuit hun eigen expertise nauw met elkaar samenwerken.
