Als operatieverpleegkundige heb je een breed scala aan verantwoordelijkheden zoals:

- Je bereidt de operatiezaal voor op de ingreep, dit omvat het controleren en klaarleggen van benodigde apparatuur, instrumenten, steriele materialen en medicatie. Je zorgt ervoor dat alles gereed is volgens de specifieke behoeften van de operatie.

- Tijdens de operatie assisteer je de chirurg en andere leden van het operatieteam. Je reikt instrumenten en materialen aan de chirurg en andere teamleden aan. Je helpt bij het positioneren van de patiënt en zorgt ervoor dat de operatie vlot verloopt.

- Je bent verantwoordelijk voor het monitoren van de vitale functies van de patiënt tijdens de operatie om ervoor te zorgen dat de patiënt stabiel blijft.

- Een belangrijk aspect van het werk van een operatieverpleegkundige is het waarborgen van een steriele omgeving in de operatiekamer. Je volgt strikte protocollen voor het handhaven van steriliteit en neemt maatregelen om infecties te voorkomen.

- Je registreert nauwkeurig alle relevante gegevens met betrekking tot de operatie, inclusief het verloop van de procedure, de gebruikte materialen en medicatie, en de toestand van de patiënt. Deze documentatie is belangrijk voor de medische dossiers en de opvolging van de patiëntenzorg.

- Je werkt nauw samen met andere leden van het operatieteam, waaronder chirurgen, anesthesisten, anesthesieverpleegkundigen en recoveryverpleegkundigen. Goede communicatie en samenwerking zijn essentieel om de veiligheid en het welzijn van de patiënt te waarborgen.

- Je beschikt over een bachelordiploma in de verpleegkunde (het vroegere A1)

- Ervaring in een operatiekwartier is pluspunt maar geen must

- Je beschikt over goede verpleegtechnische vaardigheden en kan de aan jou toevertrouwde handelingen zelfstandig uitvoeren

- Je beschikt over een goede mondelinge en schriftelijk taalvaardigheid

- Je werkt graag en vlot samen met artsen en collega's

- Je werkt nauwkeurig en planmatig

- Je bent leergierig en positief ingesteld

- Stresssituaties brengen je niet van de wijs
