Een vrachtwagen valt stil, het waarschuwingslampje brandt en niemand weet waarom. Voor jou is dat net het leuke deel: je pakt de diagnosecomputer, leest het schema en zoekt tot je de oorzaak vindt. Het bedrijf is een West-Vlaams familiebedrijf dat al ongeveer 30 jaar bestaat en intussen aan de derde generatie toe is. Het begon als bouwbedrijf dat zijn eigen wagenpark onderhield. Omdat er steeds meer vraag van buiten kwam, groeide die werkplaats uit tot een volwaardige dienstverlener voor externe klanten. Naast de werkplaats bestaat er een transporttak met zo’n 16 chauffeurs, die onder meer graan, veevoeders en granulaten vervoeren, en een tak voor betonpompen. In totaal werken er ongeveer acht mensen, waarvan vier mechaniekers in de werkplaats. Zo klein als het team is, zo groot is de onderlinge sfeer: iedereen helpt elkaar en de lijnen zijn kort.

Wat houdt de job in?

  • Het zwaartepunt van de job ligt bij elektronica en elektronische diagnose van vrachtwagens
  • Klassieke mechanische werkzaamheden horen er evengoed bij: onderhoud en herstellingen aan het eigen wagenpark en aan voertuigen van externe klanten
  • Met diagnosecomputers wordt de oorzaak van storingen opgespoord, en elektrische schema’s vormen daarbij het vertrekpunt
  • Af en toe volgt een depannage, waarbij de technische problemen ter plaatse worden opgelost
  • Samen met het team wordt de werkplanning bewaakt, zodat voertuigen op tijd weer de weg op kunnen
  • Een technische achtergrond met een sterke interesse in elektronica vormt de basis
  • Elektrische schema’s lezen en begrijpen moet vlot lukken, want dat wordt ook getest tijdens de selectie
  • Ervaring met vrachtwagens, bestelwagens of diagnoseapparatuur is mooi meegenomen, maar geen vereiste
  • Een rijbewijs C of CE is een sterke plus
  • Wie nog niet gespecialiseerd is in vrachtwagens maar wel over een goede basis en de nodige motivatie beschikt, komt ook in aanmerking
  • De juiste ingesteldheid telt: graag bijleren, doorzetten en meedraaien in het team
  • Nederlands is de voertaal op de werkvloer
