Job Description

Division

The Risk and Resilience Management division is a central part of Euroclear's second line of defence. Its mission is to support Euroclear in achieving its goals and delivering its strategy through robust, independent oversight of risk-taking activities across the Group. The division brings together around 150 risk professionals across Brussels, London, the Netherlands, Paris and Krakow, with activities covering the entire Euroclear Group.

Role & responsibilities

You will be working within the Emerging & Transversal Risk department, newly created within Risk and Resilience. It provides independent, forward-looking advice across risk types by identifying emerging threats, connecting risks across the organisation and enriching decision-making through scenario analysis. Your role fits into this challenge. The team also brings together risk regulation and the macroeconomic centre of excellence, creating a joined-up view of external developments and their implications for Euroclear.

Role purpose

You support the development and day-to-day delivery of Euroclear's transversal and emerging risk capability, with a particular focus on scenario analysis. You gather and process relevant internal and external insights on themes that may affect Euroclear's risk profile or strategic execution and help translate them into plausible, structured scenarios for the Manager leading the function.

This is a substantive analytical role with ownership of assigned research, scenario-development activities, assessments and reporting outputs. It combines scenario analysis with broader horizon scanning, evidence management, risk mapping and support to thematic research across the team.

Key responsibilities

Scenario analysis and development

  • Contribute to the design and development of scenarios for selected transversal and emerging themes, under the guidance of the Manager leading the function.
  • Gather and structure evidence needed to define scenario assumptions, developments, transmission channels and potential impacts.
  • Draft scenario narratives and alternative pathways, making the underlying evidence, assumptions and uncertainties clear.
  • Analyse how scenarios may affect Euroclear’s existing risks, business activities, critical services and strategic objectives using agreed methodologies.
  • Prepare materials for scenario workshops and working sessions, capture specialist input and translate discussions into structured analytical outputs.
  • Support proportionate qualitative or data-based assessments and coordinate with relevant specialists where further quantification is required.

Horizon scanning and broader research support

  • Conduct horizon scanning for assigned transversal risk drivers and assess the relevance, credibility and potential impact of external and internal developments.
  • Maintain a structured and traceable evidence base covering publications, internal analysis, specialist input, assumptions and review dates.
  • Contribute research, evidence gathering and drafting to thematic deep dives beyond the scenarios directly assigned to the role.
  • Identify material developments, conflicting evidence and questions requiring more senior technical judgement.

Risk analysis and reporting

  • Assist in mapping transversal and emerging drivers to the risk types in Euroclear’s risk library.
  • Contribute to assessments of interdependencies and potential second-order effects across risk types.
  • Prepare clear scenario summaries, research notes and reporting content for periodic reviews.
  • Check the consistency and completeness of analytical outputs and their links to underlying evidence.

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Coordinate routine input from owners of risk drivers, risk specialists and other subject-matter experts, and follow up agreed actions.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Emerging & Transversal Risk department, including risk regulation and the macroeconomic centre of excellence.
  • Support effective discussion of scenarios and emerging themes with non-specialist stakeholders using clear, accessible language.

Key skills & experience

Skills & competencies

  • Communication is key – you are able to discuss complex topics with non-experts using plain language.
  • Critically assesses evidence and translates complex or uncertain developments into concise, structured analysis.
  • Can connect several developments and describe credible pathways through which they may affect Euroclear.
  • Works independently within agreed priorities and methods, while recognising when escalation or specialist input is needed.
  • Combines intellectual curiosity with strong organisation and attention to traceability, consistency and quality.

Technical expertise

  • Relevant experience in risk management, research, scenario analysis, economics, strategic foresight, data analysis or forward-looking assessment.
  • Familiarity with scenario-development approaches, such as assumptions, narratives, transmission channels, impact pathways or sensitivity analysis.
  • Ability to map external developments to business activities, strategic objectives and risk frameworks.
  • Experience with structured information, spreadsheets, dashboards, research tools or reporting tools.

Leadership & collaboration

  • Collaborative approach and confidence working with specialists across risk and business functions.
  • Ability to prepare and support structured workshops, consolidate different expert views and maintain momentum across assigned workstreams.
  • Comfort contributing specialist scenario-analysis skills while also supporting the team’s wider research agenda.

Profile

  • Experience in financial services, financial market infrastructures, risk management, economics or a related field is valued.
  • Strong interest in technological, geopolitical, macroeconomic, climate or market-structure developments and how several drivers may interact.
  • Practical analytical mindset, with an interest in developing scenarios that support risk discussions and decision-making.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
