Job Description

Eurofins Environment Testing Northern California - Air Toxics is looking for a Laboratory Technician I to join our Folsom, CA team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for analysis in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), analytical methods, client requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Pressurize, screen, and otherwise prepare samples as required for analytical testing.
  • Perform routine laboratory support activities and assist analysts with sample handling, preparation, and other analytical needs.
  • Serve as a laboratory runner, transporting samples, standards, supplies, paperwork, and other materials throughout the laboratory as needed.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks associated with laboratory operations, including documentation, data entry, sample tracking, and record maintenance.
  • Read, understand, and accurately follow SOPs, Air Toxics methods, client requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Ensure all sample preparation, documentation, data handling, and laboratory activities are completed accurately and in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Prepare calibration standards and other materials required for analytical testing.
  • Operate and utilize the Air Toxics LIMS system for sample tracking, documentation, data entry, and other applicable laboratory functions.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of work performed and ensure documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist analytical personnel with routine laboratory tasks and provide support as needed to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Monitor sample and workload status and communicate production, quality, equipment, or sample-related issues to management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with laboratory safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail, and consistency when handling samples, documentation, and laboratory materials.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines and turnaround requirements.
  • Demonstrate and promote the company's vision, values, quality standards, and commitment to customer service.
  • Perform other laboratory, administrative, and support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

Experience working in a fast paced environment similar to food service or production setting.

Ability and/or Skills

Adherence to safety protocol and operation procedures; Excellent customer service; resourceful and collaborative approach in solving problems; function in an environment of constant change and conflicting priorities; communicate well with coworkers and management; read, understand and comply with SOPs; concentrate, focus, and be attentive to details; use a keyboard to enter data; work under medium to high stress level; ability to exercise independent judgment and effectively use resources to solve problems; ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a continuous basis, stand for prolonged periods; work upright, bend and use hands and arms repetitively to perform moderate physical work duties; the ability to push carts with objects on board weighing up to 50 pounds; hearing and speaking are needed to listen effectively and talk with individuals in person or on the phone; specific vision abilities required by this job include; close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Hazardous Material Handling

The Eurofins Air Toxics laboratory houses chemicals necessary for the analysis of various environmental samples. These chemicals can be harmful if not properly handled. The list includes but is not limited to; cryogenic Dewars of liquid nitrogen, compressed gasses including helium, nitrogen and hydrogen, sharps and liquid solvents such as methylene chloride, acetonitrile and acetone. This position requires the ability to safely handle and transport these bulk chemicals. The employee will be required to read and reference the Chemical Hygiene Plan and Injury and Illness Prevention Program for additional information and instruction.

Additional Information

Compensation Range: $19 - $21 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Position is full-time and non-exempt from overtime pay, candidates must be able to work one of the following shifts:

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm

Weekends and overtime as needed.
