Join our Advanced Microscopy team and play a key role in solving complex materials and semiconductor challenges using cutting-edge Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM).

In this production focused role, you'll spend significant time operating state-of-the-art TEM instrumentation, analyzing advanced materials, and providing high-quality, site specific insights that drive critical client decisions. The ideal candidate is a technically strong contributor who thrives in a fast-paced laboratory environment, enjoys working directly with sophisticated tools, and takes pride in delivering accurate, timely results while meeting client expectations.

The TEM Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Operating TEM tools to obtain TEM/STEM images, SAED, EDS and EELS data from samples.
  • Developing TEM analysis protocols/techniques to meet clients’ requests.
  • Creating summary reports to capture the project objectives, analysis data and interpretation of the results.

A typical day would involve-

  • Operating the TEM tools (FEI or JEOL electron microscopes) and collecting TEM/STEM images based on customers' requests.
  • Performing elemental analysis such as EDS/EELS (collecting/process the data and creating the reports).
  • Engaging in discussions with customers to solve their questions and concerns.

Work Schedule: *5pm-2am, Tuesdays to Saturdays OR Sundays to Thursdays

*10% shift differential will apply

Lab locations: Milpitas or Sunnyvale, CA

Qualifications

  • Independent operation of TEM/STEM instrumentation
  • Hands-on SAED technique (Selected Area Electron Diffraction)
  • Hands-on EDS (Energy Dispersive Xray Spectroscopy) and EELS (Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy) techniques for acquisition, processing, and interpretation
  • 4D-STEM technique experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of TEM operating principles
  • Experience developing TEM-specific analysis protocols/techniques
  • Experience producing reports that interpret TEM results

What would set you apart:

  • FEI/Thermo Fisher and/or JEOL instrument experience
  • Preferred experience with semiconductor chips and wafer samples

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
