The posting

As a membership organization, EHA depends on members’ expertise and active involvement to shape its strategic direction and activities. The Membership Engagement Manager helps turn that involvement into sustained participation, stronger member relationships and demonstrable value throughout the membership lifecycle.

EHA creates inclusive spaces where hematologists and other stakeholders can connect, learn, contribute, and work towards shared goals. This role helps translate those interactions into coherent member journeys and value-driven experiences, from onboarding and participation through renewal, advocacy, and re-engagement.

In this role, you will coordinate membership engagement across the member lifecycle. You will use CRM data and member insights to support onboarding, participation, retention, and renewal; work with colleagues to improve member communications and services; and support EHA committees in delivering greater value and impact for members.

Main responsibilities:

  • Membership engagement Use member data, feedback, personas, and journeys to design and continuously improve onboarding, communications, services, and engagement opportunities across the membership lifecycle. Monitor participation, satisfaction, renewal, and re-engagement to demonstrate member value and identify where the experience should improve.
  • Membership sustainability and growth Develop and coordinate evidence-based recruitment, retention, renewal, and win-back initiatives. Build partnerships with national societies and other relevant organizations, explore joint membership opportunities, analyse membership trends and segments, and recommend actions that strengthen EHA’s relevance and sustainable growth across global, regional, and national communities.
  • Marketing and communications Work closely with the PR and Marketing team to plan, deliver, and evaluate segmented recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and renewal campaigns. Coordinate member surveys and feedback activities, test messages and channels, maintain a consistent membership value proposition, and represent or support EHA at relevant external events.
  • Committee and volunteer engagement Support committee chairs and members by coordinating annual planning, meetings, logistics, agendas, minutes, data, and presentation materials. Standardize processes, maintain accurate records and action logs, support effective volunteer onboarding and recognition, and ensure committee insights inform wider membership engagement work.

What we offer

  • A 8-12 month employment agreement.
  • Min. 32 to 40 hours per week.
  • The opportunity to contribute to EHA’s Operations and indirectly support high-quality standards in hematology.
  • Collaboration with an international network of experts and internal teams.
  • An international and dynamic environment with over 15 nationalities.
  • Flexibility and well-being in a collaborative work culture.
  • A hybrid-working model, with a minimum of two office days per week in The Hague.
  • Thirty vacation days, a collective premium-free pension plan, an 8% holiday allowance, commuting allowance, and a benefits package (annually, based on full-time employment).
  • A training path to support your professional development.
  • Salary range: €4,400–€6,000 gross per month (based on full-time, 40 hours/week).

Please note that internal applicants have priority over external applicants.

  • Only candidates residing in the Netherlands will be considered.
  • Non-EU/EEA nationals must possess a valid work permit for the Netherlands.
  • Employment will be subject to the dissolving condition that the employee provides the employer with a valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG) within eight weeks of the commencement date of their employment.

What you bring

  • A relevant Bachelor's degree.
  • At least five years’ experience in membership, subscription, customer engagement, community management, or a comparable relationship-based environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of member recruitment, onboarding, engagement, retention, renewal, and win-back strategies, with the ability to translate data and feedback into practical improvements.
  • Strong relationship-building, campaign and value-proposition skills, with the ability to communicate the benefits of membership to different audiences.
  • Experience using CRM or membership management systems, Microsoft 365 and reporting tools to maintain data quality, segment audiences, track engagement, and support evidence-based decisions.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
  • A confident and professional communicator, with excellent written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with working in an international setting.
  • Decisive and collaborative, with experience influencing stakeholders, building consensus, and following through on agreed actions.
  • Excellent communication of written and spoken English, proficiency in Dutch is considered an advantage.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
