Job Summary

Exegy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Automation Developer Intern to join our Montreal-based Software Automation team. This internship offers hands-on experience treating software testing and automation as pure software development—building scalable capabilities, backend testing utilities, and reusable code that power our market data platforms.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain real-world exposure to high-performance financial technology systems. You will contribute directly to automated testing frameworks, support CI/CD pipeline integrations, and learn how quality is engineered into production-grade software across the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Responsibilities

- Assist in building and maintaining reusable automated test scripts, libraries, and utilities primarily using Python

- Help integrate automated test coverage, validation gates, and health checks into CI/CD pipelines (such as GitLab CI or Jenkins)

- Focus on writing clean, maintainable, and reusable code for functional, integration, regression, and system testing across Exegy products

- Develop a practical understanding of financial markets, trading systems, market data platforms, and high-performance software environments

- Support exploratory efforts to incorporate developer-assistance tools and modern AI platforms (such as Claude and Gemini) into test generation, log analysis, and diagnostic workflows

- Participate in team code reviews, sprint activities, and technical discussions. Document test results, framework usage, and bug reports clearly and concisely

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

- Strong foundational knowledge and hands-on experience using Python (coursework, personal projects, research, or prior internships)

- Exposure to C++ or Linux environments is a plus

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field

- Strong desire to replace manual testing with reliable, repeatable, and maintainable automated code

- Basic understanding of object-oriented design, version control (Git), and writing reusable code components

- An interest in learning about financial technology, trading systems, market data, and the broader SDLC

- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and clear verbal/written communication in a team-oriented environment

What You’ll Gain:

- Hands-on software development experience in a high-performance production environment

- Deep technical insight into financial market infrastructure and trading systems

- Direct mentorship from experienced automation and software engineers

- Exposure to modern SDLC practices, test automation design, and CI/CD automation pipelines

- The opportunity to build meaningful, reusable software tools used by engineering teams globally

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
