The posting

About Ezra

Ezra is building the AI-powered recruiter of the future.

Our voice-based platform conducts natural, personalized interviews at scale—so hiring teams can quickly surface the best candidates, without spending hours on phone screens. The product is live, early customers are using it, and we’re backed by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z Speedrun), NEA, and other top-tier investors.

Now we’re hiring our Founding Engineer to help us take Ezra from early traction to breakout growth.

The Role

As Ezra’s first full-time engineering hire, you’ll partner directly with the CEO to own the architecture, engineering strategy, and technical execution across the entire product. You’ll work across the stack—from real-time voice AI systems to intuitive front-end interfaces—and help lay the foundation for the team, codebase, and culture as we grow.

This is a unique opportunity to join a funded, post-MVP startup and build a product that’s already in use with real customers.

What You’ll Do

Lead engineering end-to-end—backend, frontend, infra, and DevOps. Prototype and integrate voice AI pipelines (ASR → intent classification → LLM → TTS). Make foundational decisions about architecture, infrastructure, and tooling. Collaborate with the CEO to shape product roadmap and execution. Build toward a system that supports high-volume hiring and tight feedback loops. Establish engineering practices (testing, monitoring, CI/CD, etc.) from the ground up. Help hire, onboard, and mentor the early engineering team.

What We’re Looking For

9+ years of experience building production systems. Fluency in Node.js, React, TypeScript, and Python. You've shipped and scaled real products, ideally at fast-moving startups. You’re excited about AI and voice interfaces, and have worked with LLMs or similar tools. You’re scrappy, self-directed, and love working across product and engineering. You thrive in ambiguity and know how to balance shipping fast with technical debt.

Bonus Points

Experience with voice AI tools Familiarity with voice streaming pipelines, transcription services, or audio processing. Prior experience as a founding engineer or early technical hire. Background in recruiting tech, HR tech, or conversational interfaces.

Work Environment

Fully remote, with core collaboration hours in Pacific Time Small, focused team where your work is immediately impactful Momentum: real users, real feedback, real opportunity to shape what Ezra becomes

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
