The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Software Engineer – Cloud & Application Development based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced software engineering leader to drive the design, development, and support of modern enterprise applications in a fully remote environment. This hands-on leadership role combines full-stack engineering, cloud-native development, and production operations to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable technology solutions. You will guide and mentor engineers, collaborate with business stakeholders, and influence technical architecture and engineering standards. Working with Microsoft Azure, C#, .NET, SQL Server, and modern front-end frameworks, you will help translate business needs into effective technical solutions. You will also have the opportunity to integrate emerging AI capabilities, particularly Azure OpenAI, into enterprise applications. This is an opportunity to shape technical direction, improve application performance, and contribute to meaningful business initiatives while remaining actively involved in development.

Accountabilities

  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor software engineers, promote collaboration and accountability, conduct code reviews, and encourage continuous improvement across the engineering team.
  • Cross-Functional Delivery: Partner with product owners, architects, business stakeholders, and technical teams to translate business requirements into implementation plans and deliver projects successfully.
  • Full-Stack Application Development: Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using C#, .NET/.NET Core, and SQL Server, alongside responsive user interfaces built with React or Angular 2+.
  • Cloud Engineering and Architecture: Build and support cloud-native applications and services on Microsoft Azure, contributing to architecture decisions, application modernization, and solutions that prioritize scalability, reliability, performance, and security.
  • AI Integration: Explore and implement AI-driven capabilities using Azure OpenAI, integrating emerging technologies into enterprise applications where appropriate.
  • API and Service Development: Develop and integrate APIs, services, and scalable application components that support business objectives and modern software delivery practices.
  • Production Support and Incident Management: Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, respond to incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements to reduce downtime and improve the user experience.
  • Engineering Standards and Optimization: Ensure applications follow security, compliance, architectural, and operational best practices while continuously improving performance and maintainability.
  • Agile Collaboration: Contribute to an innovative, team-oriented environment focused on quality, effective delivery, and ongoing technical improvement.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with at least 6 years of software development experience or equivalent practical experience.
  • Engineering Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading software engineering teams, mentoring developers, providing technical direction, and coordinating delivery across multiple functional groups.
  • Backend Development: Professional experience developing enterprise applications with C#, .NET or .NET Core, and SQL Server.
  • Cloud Technologies: Professional experience with Microsoft Azure and the ability to design, develop, and support cloud-based applications.
  • Frontend Development: Recent professional experience building user interfaces with React or Angular 2+ within the past two years.
  • Enterprise Solution Design: Experience designing and developing scalable, maintainable enterprise applications and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Production Operations: Experience supporting production applications, diagnosing technical issues, monitoring performance, and implementing proactive fixes.
  • AI and Emerging Technologies: Experience with Azure OpenAI is highly preferred, particularly for integrating AI-driven capabilities into enterprise applications.
  • Cloud Architecture and APIs: Familiarity with cloud-native architecture, application modernization, RESTful APIs, and microservices is preferred.
  • Development Practices: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, modern software engineering practices, and Agile/Scrum delivery environments is an advantage.
  • Performance and Reliability: Strong understanding of application performance monitoring, optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders while balancing hands-on development with leadership responsibilities.
  • Industry Background: Experience in healthcare is a plus, with dental industry experience particularly relevant.
  • Location and Working Hours: Must reside and work within the United States and be available during Pacific Time business hours.
  • Work Authorization: Employment sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available.
  • Annual Base Salary: $135,000–$145,000, excluding benefits and potential bonuses. Final compensation depends on location, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
  • Medical Coverage: Comprehensive medical insurance through Anthem, with multiple plan options and affordable premiums, including an HSA-eligible high-deductible health plan.
  • Dental and Vision: Employer-paid dental insurance at 100% and low-cost vision coverage for employees and eligible dependents.
  • Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with immediate vesting, employer matching, a Roth option, and access to professional financial advice.
  • Disability and Supplemental Coverage: Short-term disability insurance and voluntary benefits, including accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity coverage.
  • Life Insurance: Company-paid life insurance.
  • Paid Time Off: Generous vacation and sick leave with rollover options, 10 paid company holidays, and an additional wellness day.
  • Learning and Development: Tuition reimbursement and opportunities to strengthen technical expertise and professional skills.
  • Employee Perks: Access to an employee perks program and flexible work options for eligible positions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
