The posting

Facilities Management eXpress is currently seeking a Technical Product Manager to join our team!

Do you build things instead of writing documents about them? Do repeated manual tasks make you want to open your laptop and fix them? If AI coding tools are just how you work, keep reading.

Much of FMX’s data starts in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and in partner spreadsheets, and collecting it is slow and expensive. You’ll start by making our Facility Condition Assessments dramatically cheaper and faster. Then you’ll bring that approach to everywhere else data enters FMX.

You’ll be the product manager for these tools and usually the one building them, going from “huh, that’s painful” to a shipped fix in days. You’ll also spend more time on site than anyone in Product, so you’ll be our scout for the problems that never become support tickets.

As the Technical Product Manager, you will:

First priority: make the FCA operation as efficient as possible

  • Own the cost and cycle time of an assessment. Baseline cost per building and square foot, technician hours, days on site, report turnaround, and rework rates, then set targets with Professional Services and report on them.
  • Tackle the biggest time sinks first, across scoping, on-site capture, data cleanup, report production, and capital plan population.
  • Build, ship, and support the FCA tools: the capture app and field workflow, operations tracking, the mapping and floor plan pipeline, and partner data intake.
  • Get on site and do the work yourself, interviewing technicians and facilities staff and routing what you learn to the right product manager.

Broader scope: data ingestion and the cost of operations

  • Cut the cost of bringing customer data into FMX during onboarding, from equipment lists and floor plans to formats nobody planned for.
  • Build tooling that makes data intake repeatable instead of bespoke.
  • Improve data completeness, not just speed. Thin data gathered quickly is worse than good data gathered efficiently.
  • Use AI where it removes real work, like reading nameplate photos and floor plans, drafting condition narratives, and catching gaps before customers do.
  • Automate internal work anywhere a small tool saves real time or money.
  • When an internal tool earns a place in the FMX product, make the case and hand it off well, with documentation and data model implications.
  • Keep the data defensible. Speed only counts if the work holds up.

What success looks like in year one:

  • You know our cost and cycle time per assessment by heart, because you built the reporting.
  • Technician hours or days per assessment are measurably down, thanks to what you shipped.
  • The field team wouldn’t give up your tools, and Product makes decisions based on what you bring back.
  • You’ve applied the same approach to at least one other ingestion problem, likely onboarding, and cut real cost.

Requirements

Preferred Experience & Qualities:

  • A portfolio of shipped work. This matters most. You’ve built and shipped real tools, and you can walk us through what you made, what broke, and how you fixed it.
  • Daily AI-assisted building. You use tools like Claude, Claude Code, or Cursor every day and have shipped working software with them.
  • Enough coding skill to be dangerous. You can read a stack trace, understand what an API is doing, work in git, deploy to something like Vercel, and catch the AI when it’s confidently wrong. No CS degree required.
  • An outcome-driven mindset. You’d rather own a number than a backlog, and watching cost or cycle time drop is what motivates you.
  • Comfort in the field. Mechanical rooms, roof hatches, hard hats, and long days walking buildings sound fun to you. You can travel up to 50% and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong listening skills. You can earn the trust of a maintenance tech and a facilities director in the same afternoon and get straight answers from both.
  • Self-direction. You do your best work without much scaffolding, since there’s no team of engineers waiting on your specs.
  • Alignment with our core pillars. We value our work ethic, we are disciplined in our processes and responsibilities, we are coachable and seek out constructive criticism, we value results and are performance-driven, and we treat each other and everyone we meet with respect and integrity.
  • There’s no minimum years of experience. Recent graduates, career changers, and self-taught builders are all welcome.
  • Experience with facilities, construction, K-12 or higher ed operations, field data collection, or mapping and GIS is a plus!

The hiring process for this role:

  • Apply! Submit your resume and answers to the application questions via the Workable portal.
  • Phone screen with People Ops: A 30-minute conversation to review your background and experiences, discuss the culture at FMX, and ensure that you understand the general expectations for the role. Also, a great time for you to ask questions about compensation, benefits, etc.

  • Questions for you from the team on your background, as well as time to discuss the day-to-day responsibilities and team culture.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
