ROLE OVERVIEW

The Finance Director, Asia is a critical senior leadership role with end-to-end financial responsibility for Fanatics International's Asian business across Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia, reporting directly to the CFO, Fanatics International. Operating as a trusted co-pilot to the Managing Director of Asia, this role owns all aspects of finance including accounting, treasury, banking, tax, compliance, and financial planning & analysis, while leading and developing a local finance team across a localised and regulated market environment. The Finance Director, Asia delivers business and fan impact through BOLD leadership and execution excellence, leveraging data, automation, and AI-enabled insights.

HOW WILL YOU DRIVE IMPACT

Success is measured by the ability to deliver results through BOLD capabilities and measurable outcomes.

Team & Leadership Impact (Build Championship Teams)

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Partner closely with the Managing Director of Asia as a strategic financial co-pilot, contributing to commercial strategy, investment decisions, and market development plans across Japan, Korea, and SEA.
  • Collaborate with Group Tax, external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless alignment between local market requirements and Group-wide financial policies.
  • Support the evaluation and execution of local M&A, joint ventures, and commercial agreements in partnership with regional and global stakeholders.

People Leadership:

  • Lead, develop, and inspire the Asia finance team, building a high-performing, commercially minded function with clear roles, responsibilities, and individual development plans.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong financial discipline, creating depth of capability across the team.
  • Drive process improvement and systems enhancements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function across all Asian markets.

Fan & Customer Impact (Obsessed with Fans)

  • Deliver timely, high-quality financial reporting and insightful analysis that equips the Fanatics International senior leadership team to make decisions that support outstanding fan experiences.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs and dashboards that provide clear visibility into business performance, enabling the commercial team to respond quickly to fan demand and market trends across Asia.
  • Provide financial challenge and support on all key business initiatives, contracts, and partnerships within the local market, ensuring commercial decisions are grounded in rigorous financial analysis.
  • Ensure appropriate banking facilities, treasury structures, and working capital optimisation are in place to sustain the operational reliability that fans and business partners depend on.

Innovation & Problem Solving (Limitless Entrepreneurial Spirit)

  • Build and continuously evolve the financial infrastructure, internal controls, and governance frameworks required to support a high-growth business operating across multiple regulated markets in Asia.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements that increase the efficiency and scalability of the finance function.
  • Manage foreign exchange exposure, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity planning with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach suited to a dynamic, multi-currency environment.
  • Bring entrepreneurial financial rigour to the evaluation of new market opportunities, investments, and commercial models across Japan, Korea, and SEA.

Ownership & Execution (Determined & Relentless Mindset)

  • Own full financial accountability for the Asian market — spanning the integrity and accuracy of the Fanatics Asia P&L, balance sheet, cash flow reporting, and all statutory and regulatory filings.
  • Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes for Asia, delivering outputs that drive confident decision-making at the senior leadership level.
  • Oversee all local accounting, tax, and statutory compliance, ensuring timely completion of all regulatory submissions, tax returns, and audit requirements across all Asian jurisdictions.
  • Manage all banking relationships and treasury operations, ensuring the business maintains appropriate liquidity, financing arrangements, and cash management discipline at all times.

AI & DIGITAL CAPABILITY

We are building a future-ready organization. This role is expected to:

  • Apply AI and technology to improve efficiency, quality, and outcomes
  • Use data and digital tools to inform decisions and enhance performance
  • Demonstrate curiosity and adaptability in adopting new technologies and ways of working
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

CAPABILITIES & EXPERIENCE YOU BRING

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven senior finance leadership experience, ideally at CFO or equivalent level within a complex, multi-entity or international business operating in Japan, Korea, or Southeast Asia, with deep knowledge of local financial, tax, and statutory regulatory requirements.
  • Experience across the full breadth of finance functions — accounting, treasury, banking, tax, FP&A, and internal controls — with a strong track record of ensuring compliance in a localised market context.
  • Fluency in Japanese and English is essential given the localised nature of the role; Korean language capability is a valued additional asset.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial insights into clear business recommendations and act as a credible strategic partner to senior operational leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing finance teams, with a leadership style that builds trust, capability, and high performance across culturally diverse environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively at all levels across local markets and global headquarters.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, high-growth, or PE-backed environment is advantageous.

Education:

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
