ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Internship Program is a prestigious, cohort-based experience that attracts top talent from across the country for paid, full-time summer internships spanning majors and functional areas – from economic research and finance to Cash Services, IT, and beyond. While interns take on a specific functional role for the summer with meaningful work and opportunities to grow, the program offers much more than a single assignment. Dedicated staff mentors help launch your career, and curated cohort programming provides broad exposure to central banking, direct access to senior leaders and industry experts, and dedicated learning and development opportunities. As part of the Federal Reserve System, you'll also build a professional network of peers that spans the nation. The program runs approximately for 10-12 weeks, beginning in mid-to-late May and concluding in August. For this specific position, you will be located in the Dallas office. ABOUT YOUR TEAM: The Research department undertakes research and analysis to add to the frontier of knowledge and to inform monetary policy. The department produces and publishes relevant, timely and innovative research and prepares briefings to support the Bank President’s participation at Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meetings. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Assist economist(s) in one of Research’s groups (macroeconomics, international, regional, energy, or banking and finance) in their academic research and/or policy analysis. The specific tasks you will do will depend on the project(s) you work on, and will include some or all of: Learning and summarizing recent and relevant research and analysis Locating, obtaining, and compiling statistical data Constructing files and producing charts and other graphics Replicating previous research on a relevant topic Performing statistical and econometric analysis under the direction of economists Learning and solving theoretical models of the macroeconomy, international trade, or banking Contributing ideas and suggestions for project improvement Sharing knowledge and providing advice to research assistants (RAs) and other interns on economic issues and assignments WHAT YOU BRING: Completed your junior year with coursework in economics, statistics, econometrics, mathematics, and computer science and with a GPA of 3.5 or higher A copy of your current transcripts is required to be considered for this position Basic knowledge of programming in a package such as STATA, R, Python or Matlab, and proficiency in MS Office products Basic knowledge and understanding of economic variables and their interrelationships Understanding of econometric techniques that facilitate interpretation and use of data in economic analysis Past research experience (with a professor or research organization) Strong writing and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a team setting Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements OUR BENEFITS: Professional development opportunities Broader networking opportunities across District Downtown location with free parking 24/7 on-site fitness center (Dallas & Houston Offices) On-site café and coffee shop WORK HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40 hours/ week).
