Your work will affect the economy of the Southeast, the United States, and the world. The work we do here is important, and how we do it is just as important as what we do. We live our values of integrity, excellence, and respect every day. We do the right thing, we do things right, and we treat people right. A career at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta gives you the chance to do work that touches lives and helps communities prosper.

The Bank believes in flexibility to balance the demands of work and life while also recognizing the necessity of connecting and collaborating with our colleagues in person. Onsite work is an essential function of this position, and you are required to be onsite according to the schedule set by your management.

Job Description:

As Director of Enterprise Risk Management, you will lead the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s [i.e., the District’s] enterprise risk management (ERM) program and its internal control over financial reporting program. This role partners with business leaders to identify, assess, and mitigate current and emerging risks that could affect the achievement of strategic objectives, and provides independent risk insight to senior leadership and the Board of Directors. The Director also leads the framework for financial reporting controls, working with business areas and auditors to meet applicable public-company auditing standards and Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements.

Location: You must live within commuting distance of Atlanta or an approved Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta office.

Key Responsibilities:

Enterprise Risk Management

  • Own and continuously improve the District's ERM framework, including risk taxonomy, assessment methodology, and reporting standards.
  • Lead enterprise risk assessments and facilitate risk and control self-assessment sessions with business and functional areas.
  • Identify, monitor, and report on risk events, trends, and emerging risks across legal, financial, operational, strategic, and technology and data categories.
  • Partner with the Strategy team to align risk activities with strategic planning and objectives.
  • Deliver clear, concise risk analysis and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Committee and the Board of Directors.

Internal Controls

  • Lead the District's financial reporting controls program, including design, testing, and monitoring of controls.
  • Advise business areas on control ownership, documentation, and remediation of deficiencies.
  • Oversee the primary liaison with internal and external auditors on control matters.

Collaboration and Influence

  • Build strong relationships across the District's core functions (bank supervision, research, financial services, and corporate support) to understand processes and risk exposures.
  • Represent the District on System-level work groups addressing risk assessment methodology and policy.
  • Lead risk training and awareness efforts to promote an active risk management culture.

Program Operations and Leadership

  • Oversee the automation, data analytics, and reporting tools that support the ERM program.
  • Manage project plans, cross-functional work groups, and proposals for program enhancements.
  • Lead, develop, and evaluate a team of risk professionals, setting objectives, monitoring performance, and supporting career growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field; advanced degree or certification (CPA, CIA, CRISC, FRM, CERA) preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in ERM, internal audit, or internal controls.

Knowledge and Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of COSO frameworks, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and risk assessment methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate senior-level discussions and communicate effectively with senior executives and boards.
  • Experience managing teams and analytics or Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) applications.

Additional Requirements:

  • This position will require at minimum fingerprinting for a criminal background check, education and employment verification, along with potential additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job. Any offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of any required background screening. These screenings would be initiated at the time of offer acceptance and can take up to approximately 8 weeks to be completed. The screening covers areas such as education/employment verification, criminal history, credit history, and reaches out to your references and people that know you well.
  • For Law Enforcement positions, physical, psychological, drug, stress/EKG, and attending an academy will be required.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta employees must comply with the Bank’s ethics rules. These rules generally prohibit employees, their spouses/domestic partners, and minor children from holding financial interests (such as common stock and corporate bonds) issued by financial institutions. This prohibition also applies to investment funds that focus on investing in the financial sector. If you, your spouse/domestic partner, or minor child own such securities, you will generally be asked to divest them if you accept an offer of Bank employment. If you have concerns about this prohibition, you should raise the issue with the recruiter for this posting early in the process.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
