Company

Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis

The St. Louis Fed is one of 12 Reserve Banks serving all or parts of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. The St. Louis Fed’s responsibilities include promoting stable prices, economic growth and a sound financial system, providing payment services to financial institutions, supporting the U.S. Treasury's financial operations, and advancing economic education, community development and fair access to credit.

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis supervises state member banks, along with bank and savings and loan holding companies, located within the Eighth Federal Reserve District. Situated within the Supervision, Credit, and Learning Division, the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Unit processes state member bank and holding company regulatory filings and notifications for mergers, acquisitions, changes in bank control, and de novo branches.

The M&A Unit is seeking an Analyst to join our specialized team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with fellow financial analysts to support the Eighth District’s regulatory application review process, conduct base-level casework, and develop a foundational understanding of the various types of applications filed with the Federal Reserve System.

With time, you will independently manage a caseload of application and notice filings from initial intake and acceptance through comprehensive review, analysis, and final disposition. In this capacity, you will evaluate filing proposals against relevant statutory factors and analytical considerations, including assessing the financial and managerial condition of applicant and target entities, analyzing their prospects, and identifying potential concerns for timely escalation to unit management. You will prepare comprehensive documentation that includes thorough summaries of filing proposals, detailed analysis against statutory factors and regulatory considerations, and supported recommendations for action by the Reserve Bank under delegated authority or referral to Federal Reserve Board of Governors’ staff.

You will also serve as a subject matter expert on assigned filings, presenting case summaries and status updates in weekly team and ad hoc meetings. The position requires frequent collaboration with stakeholders, including internal teams such as safety and soundness, consumer affairs, and legal staff, as well as external parties including other bank regulatory agencies, applicants and their representatives, and Federal Reserve Board of Governors’ staff. As you develop, you will have opportunities to participate in special projects and Federal Reserve System M&A workgroups, contributing to broader System M&A initiatives.

You will work onsite in our St. Louis, MO office, or one of the branch offices in Little Rock, AR, Louisville, KY, or Memphis, TN. You will report to a Manager.

  • Demonstrate sound understanding of filing proposals and financial analysis

  • Establish base-level knowledge of banking laws and regulations and Board policies and guidance
  • Gain familiarity with FedEZFile, a cloud-based platform which facilitates the Federal Reserve’s application filing process
  • Develop foundational understanding of the Competitive Analysis and Structure Source Instrument for Depository Institutions (CASSIDI) application to support the unit’s work on merger filings
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of the unit’s work to ensure all correspondence files reflect the entire record of an application or notice
  • Support the modernization of the unit’s policies and procedures
  • Build working relationships with key stakeholders within the District, throughout the System, and with external constituents
  • Conduct presentations for internal stakeholders and Federal Reserve Board of Governors’ staff, demonstrating a thorough understanding of filing proposals
  • Support special projects as assigned

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
