Quality Assurance (QA) Executive (GMP Quality Support)
Location: Kaki Bukit - East Singapore Reports to: QA Manager
About the Role
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Executive to support and work with the QA Manager to maintain and strengthen our company-wide Quality Management System (QMS). Quality Assurance in pharmaceutical and regulated manufacturing is naturally challenging. Regulations evolve, manufacturing issues are not always straightforward, and quality decisions often require investigation, judgement and an understanding of both regulatory requirements and actual manufacturing operations.
As a smaller local manufacturer, our QA work is not divided into many narrow-specialised functions. You will have the opportunity to gain broad, hands-on exposure across the QMS, manufacturing operations, documentation, investigations, CAPA, audits and regulatory compliance.
This role is therefore suitable for someone who wants to learn how a QMS actually works as a whole, rather than performing the same narrow or repetitive QA task every day.
What You Will Do
Working closely with the QA Manager, your responsibilities will include:
· Support the day-to-day maintenance and improvement of the company’s QMS.
· Review manufacturing, packaging, laboratory and other quality-related records.
· Perform QA inspections and monitor manufacturing activities for compliance with established procedures and applicable requirements.
· Prepare, review and control SOPs, forms, specifications and other quality documents.
· Support and handle deviations, non-conformances, CAPA and change controls according to assigned responsibilities.
· Participate in investigations, root-cause assessment and follow-up of corrective actions.
· Follow quality issues from identification through investigation, action and closure.
· Work directly with Production, R&D, Warehouse and other functions to resolve quality-related matters.
· Participate in internal audits and follow up on observations and corrective actions.
· Support supplier, contract manufacturer, laboratory and external service-provider qualification and monitoring activities.
· Assist in preparation for customer, certification and regulatory audits or inspections.
· Support complaint investigations, product quality reviews and other quality activities where required.
· Identify weaknesses or gaps in existing practices and contribute to improvements in the QMS and manufacturing processes.
What Makes This Role Different
Working in a smaller QA team provides you with a holistic experience of the entire QMS framework compared to limited, specialised QA tasks in bigger setups. Here, you will have the opportunity to:
· Gain exposure to both Quality Systems and Manufacturing QA.
· Understand the relationship between Production, R&D, Warehouse, laboratories, suppliers and Quality Assurance/ Control.
· Follow actual quality issues from the manufacturing floor through investigation, CAPA and closure.
· Participate in audits, regulatory matters and QMS improvement rather than being limited to one QA activity.
· See how individual quality decisions affect the wider manufacturing and quality system.
· Gradually take ownership of more complex QA responsibilities as your competency develops.
For someone serious about developing a career in Quality Assurance, this environment provides broad practical experience and an understanding of the complete quality function.
The Mindset We Are Looking For
· Experience is valuable, but experience alone does not make a good QA professional.
· Pharmaceutical manufacturing and its QMS require continuous learning.
· A good QA professional must be prepared to understand "why" a requirement exists, not simply follow an SOP because it is written.
We are looking for someone who is willing to:
· Actively build his or her knowledge of pharmaceutical GMP, quality systems and applicable regulatory/ technical requirements.
· Read regulations, guidelines and technical references when necessary instead of relying only on what has been taught.
· Investigate when something does not appear right.
· Understand the reasoning behind quality requirements and decisions.
· Keep learning as regulatory expectations and manufacturing practices evolve.
· Look for ways to strengthen the QMS rather than simply maintain the status quo.
· Accept constructive feedback and continuously improve professional knowledge and judgement.
Maintain integrity and appropriate independence when dealing with quality matters. Not influenced by commercial pressures.
· Candidates without extensive working experience must be able to demonstrate this learning attitude, curiosity and genuine interest in developing themselves as QA professionals. You will be expected to think, investigate, read, learn and adapt.
· We do not expect a new team member to know everything from the beginning. We do expect the willingness to find out, understand the requirements and continuously build the knowledge needed to make better quality decisions.
· Quality Assurance issues can change from day to day. Some days involve documentation and record review; Others may involve manufacturing observations, investigations, CAPA, audits, regulatory requirements, technical discussions or unexpected quality issues.
· For the right person, this is an opportunity to develop broad-based QA experience and grow together with the company’s Quality Management System.
Who Should Apply :
· Diploma or Degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Life Sciences or a related discipline.
· Candidates with approximately 1- 3 years of relevant QA experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, cosmetic, food or other regulated manufacturing are preferred.
· Fresh graduates and final-year students are also welcome to apply if they have relevant academic, internship, laboratory, manufacturing or quality exposure and can demonstrate potential for Quality Assurance.
· Working knowledge or academic exposure to GMP and Quality Management Systems is advantageous.
· Exposure to quality documentation, deviation, CAPA, investigation, audit, change control or batch-record review will be an advantage.
· Attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation and compliance.
· Able to analyse problems rather than simply follow instructions.
· Willing to understand actual manufacturing processes and spend time on the manufacturing floor when required.
· Able to communicate and work under commercial pressures while maintaining appropriate quality protection.
· Able to work independently on assigned responsibilities and recognise when significant quality matters need to be escalated.
