QA ANALYST

ABOUT FELLOW

Fellow is the AI meeting assistant that helps teams turn conversations into decisions and action, built from the ground up with privacy and security in mind. Fellow supports the entire meeting workflow, from pre-meeting briefs to note-taking and recording to human-level recaps, so organizations can have fewer, better, and shorter meetings. Today, Fellow is evolving beyond notetaking into an AI Chief of Staff for the whole organization.

Founded in 2017 by the team behind Fluidware (acquired by SurveyMonkey), Fellow is a Series A company backed by Craft Ventures, iNovia Capital, and Felicis Ventures. We're a remote-first company headquartered in Ottawa, and leaders in 100+ countries rely on Fellow, including teams at Shopify, HubSpot, WarnerMedia, Tucows, and Dynatrace.

Our mission is simple: make work better for everyone. Because when meetings run better, work feels better.

THE ROLE

Quality at Fellow covers the full meeting workflow: web, desktop, and mobile, across agendas, notes, recording, AI recaps, and the workflows customers rely on every day. As we grow, we need a QA Analyst who can protect that experience from planning through release and into production.

You will design and run test plans, explore beyond the written cases, and help the team decide when something is ready to ship. You will sit with Product, Design, and Engineering early enough to influence scope, catch gaps, and bring the customer perspective into the work.

We use tools like Cursor and Claude throughout how we plan, test, investigate, and release. We are looking for someone who already works this way: using AI with strong judgment, checking what it produces, and finding better ways to test without lowering the bar. The role stays centered on manual QA and holistic testing.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Join projects from inception through deployment, contributing feedback on scope, functionality, design, risk, and testability.

- Create and maintain detailed test plans for Web, Desktop, and Mobile, covering critical workflows, integrations, and edge cases.

- Perform thoughtful exploratory testing beyond documented cases to reflect how customers actually use the product.

- Own and maintain automated end-to-end regression tests as the product evolves.

- Regularly review regression coverage, add tests for new risks and escaped defects, update outdated scenarios, and remove tests that no longer provide value.

- Investigate automated test failures, distinguish product defects from test instability, and address flaky tests and false positives promptly.

- Monitor scheduled regression and smoke suites, communicate failures clearly, and ensure the results remain trustworthy enough to support release decisions.

- Collaborate with Engineering to improve testability and determine which scenarios should be automated, tested manually, or covered at another level.

- Confirm deployment readiness by verifying tickets, running targeted manual and automated tests, assessing outstanding risk, and providing release approval.

- Perform post-deployment checks of critical functionality and help investigate customer-reported issues.

- Use AI agents to draft and refine test plans, identify edge cases, maintain automated tests, investigate failures, and improve release workflows—while independently validating their output.

- Share knowledge and help improve the team’s QA practices, tooling, and AI-native workflows.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- 4+ years of manual QA experience with web, desktop, and/or mobile applications.

- Experience creating, executing, debugging, and maintaining automated end-to-end regression tests.

- Exceptional attention to detail, including the ability to notice subtle inconsistencies and assess their potential customer impact.

- Strong prioritization and time-management skills; able to balance multiple projects, focus on the highest-risk areas, and make sound testing decisions under time constraints.

- A positive, collaborative attitude and a genuine willingness to help teammates succeed.

- Patience and sound judgment when requirements are unclear, incomplete, or changing.

- Excitement about startup culture and comfort working in an environment where priorities move quickly, responsibilities evolve, and not every problem has a predefined process.

- The confidence to raise concerns, ask clarifying questions, and advocate for quality while remaining pragmatic about delivery.

- Hands-on use of AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, or similar in real QA work, with the judgment to verify their output.

- Familiarity with browser developer tools, including the element inspector, console, and network inspector.

- The ability to distinguish between a defect, UX feedback, and a feature request.

- Strong knowledge of QA workflows, ticket-management tools such as Linear, and deployment activities.

- Availability for occasional late deployments when needed.

NICE TO HAVE

- A track record of improving how a QA team tests with AI: prompts, agent workflows, investigation checklists, or release checks that made the team faster while keeping releases trustworthy.

- Experience testing AI product behavior, including cases where output quality, privacy, or trust matters as much as whether a button works.

- Experience in a high-growth product company or startup.

WHAT WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR

- A QA Engineer focused only on automation. Automation experience matters here, but the center of the role is manual QA and holistic testing.

- A checkbox tester. We want someone who anticipates how people will actually use the product, models messy workflows, and gives feedback the team can act on.

- Someone who treats AI output as a finished test result. We want judgment: you use the tools, and you still own the conclusion.

HOW WE WORK

We move quickly, share work early, and help one another get unstuck. Priorities and requirements can evolve as we learn, so patience with ambiguity is important. We expect people to ask good questions, identify what matters most, and move work forward without waiting for every detail to be perfectly defined.

Quality is a shared responsibility. Successful QA Analysts at Fellow are attentive, pragmatic, and collaborative. They bring positive energy to difficult situations, communicate risks without creating unnecessary friction, and help the team find solutions.

Fellow is a startup with ambitious goals and a culture of experimentation. This environment suits people who are excited to keep learning, adapt their approach, take ownership, and roll up their sleeves when something needs to get done.

WHAT WE OFFER

At Fellow, we invest in the people who make our mission possible:

- Fair, competitive compensation — we benchmark against the market and pay fairly for every role.

- Health and dental coverage, including prescription drugs and life insurance.

- Parental leave — 12 weeks of paid leave at 80% of salary for any parent welcoming a child into their family.

- Time to recharge — three weeks of vacation, paid sick leave, and a paid company-wide break at the end of the year.

- Remote-first flexibility — work remotely within Canada.

- Room to grow — learning budgets, lunch-and-learns, and the freedom to own your work end to end.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
