Tropic-Kool Mechanical, a Fidelity Company, is entering a period of significant growth and opportunity. Our President, a strategic visionary motivated by people and high performance, is setting the direction for rapid regional expansion targeting 5x organic growth over the next 10 years, augmented by strategic tuck-in acquisitions. We are looking for a Vice President of Operations to assist in carrying out that vision and help lay the framework needed to make that future a reality. The Vice President of Operations will play a critical role in ensuring the company scales intentionally, maintains operational excellence, develops future leaders, and consistently delivers on the commitments made to customers, employees, and stakeholders.   This is an opportunity to help build a great company, not simply manage one.   The Successful Candidate is:  

A highly disciplined operational leader with experience in mechanical contracting, commercial HVAC, construction, or comparable project-based service organizations. A builder of teams and systems who excels at turning vision into execution. Someone who creates order from complexity, drives accountability without bureaucracy, and elevates the performance of leaders around them.

  This person is energized by helping others succeed and by building organizations capable of achieving levels of performance they could not achieve independently.   Qualifications:  

10+ years of leadership experience in mechanical contracting, construction, commercial HVAC, industrial services, or related industries. Experience leading multiple operational functions and teams. Strong knowledge of project management, field operations, labor planning, and organizational development. Proven success implementing systems, processes, and performance management disciplines. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Experience supporting organizational growth, business integration, or large-scale operational improvement initiatives is preferred.

  The VP of Operations Will Lead:  

Execution of company priorities. Operational alignment across departments. Leadership accountability. Process discipline and consistency. Capacity and resource planning. Operational performance reviews. KPI management and scorecards. Cross-functional collaboration. Continuous operational improvement.

  Primary Responsibilities:    Operational Leadership & Performance:

Lead day-to-day operational execution across service, construction, project management, field operations, and support functions. Ensure operational priorities remain aligned with company objectives. Create clarity around expectations, responsibilities, and performance standards. Remove obstacles that limit operational effectiveness and execution. Drive execution of company goals, annual plans, and quarterly priorities. Improve project execution, labor productivity, schedule performance, and forecasting accuracy. Partner with finance and operational leaders to improve visibility and decision making. Help maintain focus on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, safety, and profitability.

  Business Operating System:

Lead implementation and continuous improvement of the company's operating system. Establish and maintain scorecards, reporting mechanisms, meeting rhythms, and accountability structures. Create visibility into performance through consistent operational reviews. Ensure commitments become measurable actions and measurable actions become results.

  Leadership Development:

Coach and develop operational leaders, managers, project managers, superintendents, and supervisors. Strengthen organizational accountability and ownership. Build leadership bench strength capable of supporting future growth. Foster collaboration across departments and functions.

  Growth Readiness:

Build scalable systems and processes capable of supporting significant growth. Support integration of acquisitions into company operations. Standardize best practices across teams and departments. Help prepare the organization for future scale without sacrificing performance or culture.
