The posting

Business Development Representative About CT/HX CT/HX, a Fidelity Company, is a leading provider of cooling tower and heat exchanger services, repairs, and refurbishments. For more than five decades, CT/HX has helped commercial, industrial, mission-critical, healthcare, and government facilities improve equipment performance, restore efficiency, and extend the life of critical mechanical systems. Position Summary CT/HX is seeking a driven, entrepreneurial Business Development Representative to build and expand our presence throughout the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia market. This is a true hunter role focused primarily on developing government-related business. The Business Development Representative will pursue opportunities directly with federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as mechanical contractors, prime contractors, and other organizations serving government facilities. The ideal candidate is a proactive go-getter who enjoys opening doors, developing new relationships, and building a territory from the ground up. Experience selling into government accounts or the mechanical contracting industry is highly valuable, but we are equally interested in proven business developers who are curious, persistent, and motivated to learn the technical side of the business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and execute a growth strategy for the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia territory. Identify and pursue new business with government agencies, mechanical contractors, prime contractors, and other organizations supporting government facilities. Generate opportunities through prospecting, cold outreach, facility visits, networking, referrals, and industry events. Build relationships with facility managers, procurement personnel, engineers, project managers, estimators, and contractors. Research upcoming projects, capital plans, and other potential sales opportunities. Educate prospects on CT/HX's cooling tower and heat exchanger services and identify solutions that meet their facility needs. Partner with estimating, operations, and project management teams on site visits, proposals, bids, and customer presentations. Maintain consistent follow-up, manage the territory pipeline, and document activity accurately in the company's CRM. Turn new relationships and project wins into repeat business, referrals, and long-term customer partnerships. Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory to meet with customers and prospects.

Qualifications

Strong hunter mentality with the confidence to initiate conversations and pursue organizations where CT/HX does not yet have an established relationship. Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with technical and operational teams. Excellent communication, relationship-building, presentation, and follow-up skills. Ability to understand customer needs and communicate the value of technical services in clear business terms. Comfortable managing long, complex sales cycles involving multiple decision-makers. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a developing pipeline across a large geographic territory. Comfortable visiting active commercial, industrial, and government facilities while following all site-specific safety requirements.

CT/HX  |  JOB DESCRIPTION Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated success in business development, outside sales, territory development, account acquisition, or a related customer-facing role. Experience selling to federal, state, local, military, or other public-sector customers. Familiarity with government procurement processes, public solicitations, RFPs/RFQs, bid platforms, and prime/subcontractor relationships. Experience within mechanical contracting, commercial HVAC, cooling towers, heat exchangers, facilities services, construction, industrial services, or capital equipment. Existing relationships with government agencies, facility operators, engineering firms, general contractors, or mechanical contractors in the DC/MD/VA market. Experience building a new territory or developing an underpenetrated market. Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, construction management, or a related field; equivalent industry experience will also be considered. Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and general sales-productivity tools.

What Success Looks Like Success in this role will be measured by the ability to:

Build a well-defined network of target agencies, facilities, contractors, and industry partners. Consistently generate qualified new-business opportunities. Establish CT/HX as a trusted resource for government and government-related mechanical projects. Develop a healthy, accurately managed territory pipeline. Convert new relationships into inspections, proposals, awarded projects, and repeat customers. Create sustainable growth throughout the DC/MD/VA market.

Why Join CT/HX? This is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-potential territory while representing an established company with deep technical expertise, broad service capabilities, and a nationwide record of successful cooling tower and heat exchanger projects. The right person will have the freedom to develop relationships, shape the territory strategy, and directly influence CT/HX's growth within the government market. CT/HX is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
