We are an award-winning, AIM-listed business with ambitious growth plans, and we continue to invest in our people, technology and facilities to support our expanding customer base.

We are looking to recruit a Software Development Engineer to join our team in Sedgefield.

The role will involve developing and maintaining Filtronic's in-house Manufacturing and Reporting System, as well as creating new applications, reporting tools, KPI dashboards, databases and API integrations.

Working closely with colleagues in manufacturing, engineering and quality, you will help develop and improve the software systems used to support our day-to-day operations. You will also work with colleagues across our UK, USA and China sites.

This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work on existing systems as well as new development projects, within a supportive team where there is scope to build on your technical knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve software and technical issues.
  • Develop automated reporting tools to support business operations.
  • Be involved throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through to implementation, testing and ongoing support.
  • Take part in code reviews and share knowledge with other members of the software team.
  • Prepare technical documentation, specifications and user instructions.
  • Organise and manage your workload to meet project deadlines.
  • Keep colleagues and the team leader informed of project progress and any issues or risks.

Requirements

You will have a background in software development, with good problem-solving skills and the ability to work with colleagues across different areas of the business.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification, or relevant practical experience in software development.
  • Experience or a good working knowledge of C#, ASP.NET and T-SQL / Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Some knowledge of CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experience of troubleshooting SQL statements and resolving technical issues.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-motivated approach and a willingness to take responsibility for your work.
  • The ability to organise your workload and manage competing priorities.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to work well as part of a team.

Why Join Filtronic?

Filtronic is an established technology business with a growing order book and exciting opportunities ahead. You will be joining a team where your work will support the systems and processes used across the business.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
