Title and Summary

Senior Counsel - Privacy, Regulatory & Technology

Overview Mastercard’s Privacy, Regulatory, and Technology team is seeking a Senior Counsel to provide support to the Services Business & Market Insights vertical, with a focus on the Enterprise and Credit Risk (ECR) product family. ECR is a significant and growing workstream that involves continued product innovation, evolving data architectures, and commercialization across global markets through strategic customer and partner engagements. The role will serve as the primary legal lead for the ECR portfolio. The successful candidate will work closely with product, business, legal, regulatory, and technical stakeholders to translate a complex and evolving legal landscape into practical requirements for product development, data governance, contracting, and market expansion.

Role • Serve as the primary legal lead for matters relating to Mastercard’s ECR products. • Advise business, product, and technical teams throughout the product lifecycle, including privacy by design and regulatory reviews of new products, features, data uses, models, and go-to-market approaches. • Establish and maintain legal compliance frameworks and internal controls addressing privacy, credit reporting, consent management, data subject rights, AI and automated decision-making, and model risk management. • Coordinate legal analysis across jurisdictions and develop consistent positions for the application of local credit risk, privacy, AI, data use, and related regulatory requirements. • Support the review of new markets and strategic partnerships, including the use of outside counsel where local legal analysis is required. • Draft, review, and negotiate contract terms with strategic partners and key customers. • Communicate legal requirements, risk assessments, open issues, and proposed controls clearly to business leaders, product teams, technical stakeholders, and other members of the Law Department.

All About You • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. • Advanced expertise in privacy and data protection law, with meaningful experience advising on credit reporting, lending, financial services, or other regulated data uses. • Experience advising on AI, automated decision-making, model governance, data analytics, or related technology and data governance issues. • Ability to analyze complex product and data architectures, identify applicable legal requirements across jurisdictions, and translate those requirements into practical controls and contractual terms. • Strong written and oral communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with legal, business, product, regulatory, and technical stakeholders in a global organization. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex matters, operate independently in areas of ambiguity, and develop consistent legal positions across products, customers, and markets.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
