The posting

This is what you’ll actually do! As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of production and packing equipment.    You’ll apply your electrical and mechanical expertise to:   

Diagnose faults quickly and effectively  

Minimise downtime and improve plant reliability  

Carry out repairs, maintenance, and root cause analysis  

Support continuous improvement and engineering projects  

Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard  

  You’ll also:   

Record maintenance activity, downtime, and materials within the CMMS system (Mainsaver)  

Support compliance with Food Safety, GMP, and Health & Safety standards  

Identify opportunities to improve machinery performance and operational efficiency  

Communicate effectively with Production and Engineering leadership regarding downtime and corrective actions  

Support operators with basic asset care and equipment understanding  

Monitor contractors when required to ensure standards and timelines are achieved  

  This is a hands-on engineering role where technical ability, urgency, and problem-solving capability are critical to success.    This is a hands-on role where your mechanical and electrical expertise, problem-solving skills, and proactive approach will make a real impact on plant reliability and efficiency.   Ideally this is you! We are looking for an engineer who is confident, capable, and ready to make an immediate impact.   

Strong multi-skilled engineering capability across both electrical and mechanical disciplines  

The ability to confidently troubleshoot and repair equipment independently  

Experience within a fast-paced manufacturing or FMCG environment (food manufacturing preferred)  

A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure  

Excellent fault-finding and root cause analysis skills  

Experience using CMMS systems, ideally Mainsaver  

Strong understanding of Food Safety, Health & Safety, and GMP standards  

Excellent communication and team-working skills  

Time-served apprenticeship  

SVQ, HNC, or equivalent engineering qualification  

Appropriate electrical and mechanical competency depending on core discipline
