Job Title

FTS Network Services - Network Product Engineer

About your role

You will engineer, implement, automate, validate, and optimize complex enterprise network infrastructure and network services. You will work across data center, campus, WAN, security, routing, switching, and connectivity technologies to build scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available network solutions. You will translate business and technical requirements into network architectures and detailed engineering designs, develop reusable implementation patterns and standards, perform technology evaluation and certification, automate network configuration and validation, and troubleshoot complex network and connectivity issues. This role requires strong hands-on networking expertise combined with an engineering mindset focused on automation, repeatability, observability, resiliency, performance, and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

  • Design and engineer enterprise network solutions spanning data center, WAN, LAN, routing, switching, segmentation, secure connectivity, resiliency, and high availability.
  • Develop high-level designs (HLDs), low-level designs (LLDs), engineering standards, implementation patterns, test plans, operating procedures, and technical decision records.
  • Translate infrastructure, application, security, resiliency, and performance requirements into scalable network architectures and detailed technical solutions.
  • Engineer Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies including VLANs, VRFs, BGP, OSPF, STP, gateway redundancy, route policy, segmentation, and traffic engineering.
  • Design and support modern data center networking technologies including Cisco Nexus/NX-OS, VXLAN/EVPN fabrics, data center interconnect, and highly available network architectures.
  • Engineer secure connectivity solutions incorporating technologies such as IPSec and SD-WAN.
  • Develop and execute engineering validation and certification plans for new network technologies, software releases, hardware platforms, features, architectures, and configuration changes.
  • Troubleshoot complex network and application-connectivity problems using packet analysis, routing and forwarding analysis, traffic-flow analysis, telemetry, logs, and network diagnostic tools.
  • Analyze network performance including latency, packet loss, throughput, congestion, path characteristics, and application traffic behavior, and develop engineering recommendations to improve performance and resiliency.
  • Use network observability, telemetry, flow analytics, and monitoring platforms to understand network health, traffic behavior, capacity, availability, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities using scripting, APIs, structured data, source control, automated testing, and configuration-management technologies.
  • Integrate network engineering workflows with Git-based development practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated validation, and source-of-truth systems where appropriate.
  • Develop reusable network standards, configuration models, automation components, validation tests, and engineering patterns to improve consistency and reduce implementation risk.
  • Evaluate network technologies, platforms, hardware, software, and architectures based on scalability, resiliency, security, automation capabilities, supportability, performance, operational complexity, and lifecycle requirements.
  • Participate in proof-of-concept, lab validation, certification, production-readiness, and lifecycle-management activities for network technologies.
  • Partner with infrastructure, security, application, architecture, operations, and engineering teams throughout the solution lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, validation, production support, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership during complex implementations and incidents, including root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and identification of opportunities for engineering or automation improvements.
  • Maintain network architecture, engineering, configuration, and operational documentation to ensure solutions are supportable, repeatable, and operationally sustainable.

Experience you'll need to have

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in network engineering, network infrastructure engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting complex enterprise network environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts and protocols, including Ethernet, VLANs, STP, VRFs, BGP, OSPF, route policy, gateway redundancy, and IP networking.
  • Experience with enterprise routing and switching technologies such as Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Nexus/NX-OS, Cisco IOS-XE/IOS-XR, or comparable enterprise and service-provider networking platforms.
  • Experience with data center networking technologies such as VXLAN/EVPN, leaf-spine architectures, segmentation, data center interconnect, and high-availability design.
  • Experience engineering or supporting secure network connectivity, including firewalls, ACLs, network segmentation, NAT, VPN technologies, and related security controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex problems involving routing, forwarding, packet flow, latency, packet loss, throughput, application connectivity, and network performance.
  • Experience using network troubleshooting and observability technologies such as packet capture, traffic-flow analysis, telemetry, logging, monitoring, and performance-analysis tools.
  • Experience with network automation, scripting, APIs, configuration management, or Infrastructure as Code.
  • Familiarity with technologies and practices such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, YAML/JSON, REST APIs, Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and source-of-truth platforms is preferred.
  • Experience developing technical documentation such as HLDs, LLDs, engineering standards, implementation procedures, test plans, and operational documentation.
  • Experience evaluating or certifying network hardware, software, features, or architectures through lab testing, proof-of-concept activities, or structured engineering validation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
