Client: Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council Service Area: Environmental Services / Facilities Cleaning Grade: 4 Reference: OR120600 Hours: 37 per week Dates: 16 November 2026 – 1 August 2027 Duration: 37 weeks Vacancies: 1 PAYE Rate: £13.91 per hour

Working Pattern

Flexible split shifts, generally early mornings and late afternoons. Shifts may fall between 5am–9am and 3pm–7:30pm. Work schedules and sites vary. Working in a team of two.

Location

Ty Glantaff, Unit B23, Taffs Fall Road, Treforest Industrial Estate, Pontypridd CF37 5TT. Mobile work at schools and other Council buildings using a shared work van.

Job Overview

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is recruiting a flexible Mobile Cleaner to maintain schools, offices, communal facilities and other Council premises. Duties include routine cleaning, sanitisation, covering staff absences and occasional specialist deep cleans including properties affected by hoarding.

A clean driving licence is required. Applicants must be able to drive a shared work van, travel between sites, work split shifts and undertake physical cleaning. Keyholder responsibilities may apply. A DBS check is required and relevant training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean toilets, sinks, cubicles, pipework, hand dryers and floors.
  • Sanitise kitchens, work surfaces and staff rooms.
  • Vacuum, sweep and mop offices, classrooms, corridors and communal areas.
  • Clean school halls, indoor sports facilities, shower areas and changing rooms.
  • Wipe desks, hard furnishings, windowsills and skirting boards.
  • Empty waste bins throughout buildings.
  • Use scrubber dryer equipment when provided, following training.
  • Provide cover for vacancies, sickness and annual leave.
  • Undertake keyholder and building lock-up duties where needed.
  • Complete occasional specialist deep cleans, including hoarding properties.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Ability to drive a shared Council work van.
  • Flexible availability for early morning and late afternoon split shifts.
  • Ability to travel between cleaning locations.
  • Reliability and ability to work in a team of two.
  • Ability to undertake physical cleaning tasks and follow instructions.
  • Willingness to complete the required DBS check.

Desirable

  • Experience in school, office or commercial cleaning.
  • Mobile cleaning and working across multiple premises.
  • Experience with scrubber dryers and specialist deep cleaning.
  • Keyholder or building security duties.
