Flagship Pioneering Co-Op Program

Welcome to the Flagship Pioneering Co-Op Program for the cohort dreaming big and taking courageous leaps. You’ll join fellow peers across our ecosystem of companies and learn firsthand how we build first-in-category companies. You’ll have access to enrichment sessions, a dedicated professional development track, and a mentor that help guide you toward your next step. By the end, you will carry on a meaningful project outcome, a genuine network, and a front-row view of how Flagship pioneers new ventures that change the world.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated co-op student to join our Delivery team, focused on lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations for the delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics. The co-op will work hands-on with formulation scientists to support LNP development, preparation, and characterization. The ideal candidate works well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is eager to deepen their expertise in formulation science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and formulate LNPs using established protocols and evolving methods
  • Execute formulation experiments to support optimization and screening efforts
  • Perform LNP characterization and analytics, including particle size, PDI, encapsulation efficiency, and stability testing
  • Accurately document experimental procedures, results, and observations in laboratory records
  • Analyze and summarize experimental data and communicate findings to project teams
  • Collaborate closely with scientists across formulation, analytics, and biology functions
  • Support routine laboratory operations, including reagent preparation, equipment upkeep, and inventory management

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a co-op program pursuing a BS/MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Coursework or lab experience in nanoparticle formulation, drug delivery, or biophysical characterization
  • Strong hands-on laboratory skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow experimental protocols
  • Basic understanding of lipid chemistry, colloidal systems, or nucleic acid biology
  • Familiarity with LNP analytical techniques (e.g., DLS, encapsulation assays, basic stability studies)
  • Working knowledge of HPLC for small molecule analysis is a plus
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
