About FLC:

At Femern Link Contractors (FLC), we are responsible for designing and constructing the immersed tunnel, portals, and ramps on both ends of the tunnel, in Rødbyhavn and Puttgarden.

We are also building the facilities for prefabricating tunnel elements as well as accommodation facilities, also known as the “Tunnel village” in Rødbyhavn, which provides housing for FLC workers.

About the department:

The immersion engineering team is looking for a Deputy Lead Immersion Engineer to strengthen the team. Immersion engineering is taking care of all calculations regarding tunnel elements float up (weight analysis, determine ballast concrete and water, longitudinal section forces, floating stability), transfers in basins and harbour (winch operations with or without vessel assistance), mooring of the tunnel elements, transport to offshore location, immersion (including but not limited to dynamic analyses) and the stability of the elements after immersion.

As the Deputy Lead Immersion Engineer, you will coordinate and participate in the team responsible for floating up and/or hoisting the concrete tunnel elements, equipping them in the port and then transporting and installing them at sea. In a first phase you will participate in the preparation of this crucial operation, by making ballast plans e.g.. In a second phase, you will be part of the operational team that does the immersion work, by going offshore and assist the Immersion Master by giving technical advice. This is what you are prepared to do in Denmark (full time or in 4-2 rotation).

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• As Deputy Lead Immersion Engineer, you will focus on coordination of the tasks for the team and manage the stakeholders

• During the preparatory phase, you are responsible for the ballast plans and float up calculations.

• You take part in the interface management with other departments within FLC regarding specific parts of the T&I scope

• You will coordinate part of the design scope between Work Preparations and the design team based in the Netherlands and Belgium

• You are involved in the management/operation of Tunnel Control Systems

• You ensure the conclusions and results from the design documents are correctly taken over in the work method statements, drawings and operation manuals for the Immersion Pontoon specific operations related to the overall transport and immersion scope

• You liaise with the Marine Warranty Surveyor and contribute to the work procedures, Go/No Go procedures

• During float up and ballasting you check if operations stay within boundary conditions and act accordingly

• During the execution phase, you advise during the transport and installation of the elements. You will be present in the command unit of the immersion pontoons during offshore operations. You will do checks during execution, monitor the immersion process, and have an advisory role to the one in charge of the operation. You are also prepared and ready to deal with contingencies if any might occur

• After immersion, you will organize and do checks on data to create lessons learned for next operations

Qualifications:

• You are a qualified naval architect/maritime engineer/offshore engineer with minimum of 7 years experience

• You have prior experience with immersion of large structures or offshore lifting operations

• You have a good understanding of stability calculations, mooring calculations and hydrodynamics

• You are a hands-on problem solver and a decision maker

• You are a team player with strong communication skills

• You find it a challenge to work in a international, multi-cultural work-environment in which communication and team spirit is key to success

• You are fluent in English.

Conditions:

FLC considers transparent management structures, short decision-making channels, and a team-oriented environment to be extremely important. The FLC staff is expected to set themselves targets, achieve them independently, and take responsibility for their actions – irrespective of their position in the company.

Full time employment with health insurance and lunch arrangement available upon request.

Workplace:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
