The posting

COMPANY: FLIGHTSTORY REPORTING TO: DIRECTOR OF FINANCE LOCATION: LONDON - 4 DAYS IN OFFICE CONTRACT: FIXED TERM OR DAY RATE, NOVEMBER 2026 – JANUARY 2027

ABOUT FLIGHTSTORY

We are a media and investment company, and we are on a mission to elevate the stories, build the communities, and support the founders that inspire a happier, healthier humanity. We scale creator-led media, ventures and communities.

ROLE MISSION

Own FlightStory’s month-end revenue close and commercial reporting through our December year end. You’ll work hand in hand with Sales and heads of department, chasing for information, challenging the numbers, and making sure leadership gets an accurate, timely view of revenue.

KEY OUTCOMES

  • Own the month-end and year-end revenue close, keeping pipelines accurate and up to date with Sales and heads of department.
  • Make sure all billable work is invoiced on time.
  • Reconcile revenue between Xero and the sales pipeline, investigating and explaining variances.
  • Prepare accruals, deferred income and journals, and keep revenue coding in Xero accurate.
  • Produce month-end management reporting and commentary for senior leadership.
  • Partner with the Brand Partnerships, Product, Social and Speaking Engagements teams, tracking performance against targets and flagging risks and opportunities.
  • Provide commercial performance insight across the network’s shows.
  • Improve revenue processes and reporting tools, and support the build of 2027 sales commission structures.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Strong revenue accounting knowledge, including accruals, deferred income, cut-off and revenue recognition.
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets.
  • Confident chasing commercial teams for information and challenging numbers.
  • Organised and reliable under deadline pressure.
  • Spreadsheet automation, Apps Script or AI tools a bonus.

YOU’LL THRIVE HERE IF

  • You can hit the ground running and own a close from day one.
  • You’re comfortable pushing busy commercial teams for what you need.
  • You care about getting the numbers right, on time.
  • You spot better ways of doing things and fix them as you go.
  • You enjoy the pace of a creator-led media business.

IDEAL BACKGROUND

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or strong equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience running or supporting a monthly revenue close.
  • Experience in media, content, advertising or creator businesses a plus.
  • Available to start in early November 2026.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

The numbers game

More applications. More interviews.

Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting and paid once. Send enough of them and the law of large numbers finds you the job.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
