The Maintenance Planner – Aircraft Router is responsible for the daily and future routing of aircraft to support both operational requirements and scheduled maintenance needs. This position works within Maintenance Planning to strategically assign and adjust aircraft routings, ensuring maintenance requirements are accomplished within their respective compliance periods while maximizing aircraft utilization and operational reliability.

On a daily basis, the Aircraft Router collaborates closely with Operations Control, Maintenance Control, Maintenance Planning, Materials, Engineering, Maintenance Programs, Airports, and other operational support teams to balance maintenance requirements with the needs of the operation.

The Aircraft Router continuously evaluates aircraft availability, maintenance requirements, ground time, station capabilities, and operational changes to determine the most effective aircraft routing plan.

Here’s what you’ll do

  • Initially assign aircraft tail numbers to scheduled flights and continuously adjust aircraft routings based on maintenance and operational requirements.
  • Develop and manage daily and future fleet routings to ensure scheduled maintenance requirements are positioned at appropriate maintenance stations within their compliance limits.
  • Identify maintenance opportunities by evaluating aircraft ground time, station capability, manpower, tooling, materials, and maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinate aircraft swaps and routing changes to create maintenance opportunities while minimizing operational disruption.
  • Monitor upcoming maintenance requirements and proactively position aircraft to prevent maintenance items from becoming overdue.
  • Manage day-of-operation aircraft routing to maximize fleet utilization, operational reliability, and on-time performance.
  • Continuously evaluate routing changes caused by delays, cancellations, aircraft out-of-service events, maintenance findings, weather, and other operational disruptions.
  • Coordinate the routing and movement of aircraft associated with cancellations, extra sections, charter flights, aircraft substitutions, and other unscheduled operational activity.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Control and Maintenance Planning to determine aircraft availability and maintenance priorities.
  • Coordinate with Materials and maintenance stations when aircraft positioning is required to support planned maintenance.
  • Maintain awareness of deferred maintenance items and other maintenance requirements that may affect aircraft routing or station capability.
  • Ensure routing decisions account for future maintenance requirements and do not negatively impact upcoming scheduled maintenance opportunities.
  • Communicate aircraft routing plans, changes, risks, and maintenance opportunities clearly and promptly to all affected operational departments.
  • Participate in operational and maintenance planning discussions to identify routing risks and develop recovery plans.
  • Maintain accurate aircraft routing information in applicable company systems.
  • Support irregular operations and develop recovery routing plans that balance maintenance compliance with operational needs.
  • Escalate potential maintenance compliance, routing, or aircraft availability concerns to Maintenance Planning leadership and appropriate operational teams.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
