Breeze is looking for a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer with a strong Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, or DevOps background to help scale and secure a rapidly growing technology environment. This is not a traditional security analyst role. We're seeking an engineer who enjoys building, automating, and operating security platforms at scale. You'll work at the intersection of cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, reliability engineering, automation, and incident response. Your mission will be to reduce risk, eliminate manual work, improve visibility, and enable the business to move faster and more securely.
Here’s what you’ll do
- Security Platform EngineeringDesign, implement, and maintain cloud security capabilities across AWS environments. Own and optimize key cybersecurity platforms and integrations. Build scalable security controls using Infrastructure as Code and automation. Develop reliable processes for vulnerability management and remediation tracking.
- Security Automation & ReliabilityIdentify repetitive security tasks and automate them. Build workflows, integrations, and orchestration to improve operational efficiency. Create tooling that enables security to scale without proportional headcount growth. Improve the reliability, availability, and performance of security infrastructure.
- Detection & Response EngineeringDevelop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and detection capabilities. Build security telemetry pipelines and observability solutions. Improve incident response processes through automation and engineering. Conduct investigations and support cybersecurity incident response activities.
- Cloud & Infrastructure SecurityPartner with infrastructure, development, and application teams to secure cloud-native workloads. Review architectural designs and implement security best practices. Strengthen identity, access management, and privileged access controls. Help establish security standards for emerging technologies and platforms.
- Collaboration & LeadershipServe as a technical leader within the cybersecurity organization. Mentor junior engineers and help elevate engineering maturity across the team. Work closely with platform, infrastructure, compliance, and software engineering teams. Translate security requirements into practical engineering solutions.
Here’s what you need to be successful
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, SRE, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience securing AWS environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Strong Linux administration skills.
- Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, Go, or other automation-focused languages.
- Experience with monitoring, observability, and logging platforms.
- Experience managing incidents in production environments.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, TLS, VPNs, and cloud networking.
- Experience working in highly available, mission-critical environments.
- Must have authorization to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes and container security.
- Familiarity with cloud security platforms.
- Experience with SOAR, SIEM, and security automation platforms.
- Experience securing CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes.
- Experience with advanced persistent threats, phishing and social engineering, network access controllers (NAC), gateway anti-malware, and enhanced authentication
- Familiarity with PCI-DSS or other regulated environments.
- Experience supporting cloud-native applications and modern development practices.
- CISSP, AWS Security Specialty, GCIH, GCIA, CISM, or similar certifications.
Skills/Talents
- Proficiency in Python, C++, Java, Ruby, Node, Go, and/or PowerShell
- Knowledge of subnetting, DNS, encryption technologies and standards, VPNs, VLANs, VoIP, and other network routing methods
- High level of integrity and ethics, able to handle sensitive and/or proprietary information with discretion and confidentiality

- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with individuals and teams at all levels in the organization
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, handling documents, and operating standard office equipment
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching within an office environment
