Job Description:

Are you the person who always knows what’s happening—and has an opinion on what should happen next? Do you enjoy turning a half-formed idea into a compelling story, spotting the detail everyone else missed, and keeping up with both the news cycle and the social media cycle? Can you write clearly, think creatively, and stay calm when priorities shift?

If so, we’re glad you’re here! Weber Shandwick is seeking a Corporate Advisory Intern to join our Washington, DC team for the fall. This is a full-time, paid internship, with a hybrid work schedule based out of our DC office.

You’ll work alongside account teams supporting a range of public affairs clients—from brainstorming and research to media outreach, event coordination, and day-to-day campaign execution. You’ll be treated as a fully integrated member of the team, with opportunities to contribute ideas, build practical experience, and learn from smart, supportive colleagues who are invested in your growth.

POV: You’re our new Corporate Advisory Intern

On any given day, you could be drafting media materials, researching a brand or issue, monitoring traditional and social media, developing a media list, or helping coordinate an event. You might pitch a story in the morning, join a brainstorm over lunch, and track coverage or social conversations in the afternoon.

Every day will be a little different—and that’s the point. You’ll gain hands-on experience across public relations and public affairs while working on campaigns for brands and organizations you likely encounter every day.

Responsibilities

  • Create clear, compelling written communications, including media materials and social content.
  • Research brands, organizations, issues, and audiences using a range of tools.
  • Bring fresh ideas and informed perspectives to brainstorms, meetings, and client work.
  • Help develop media lists, conduct media outreach, pitch stories, and track placements.
  • Monitor brands, issues, and relevant conversations across traditional and social media.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day execution of integrated public relations and public affairs programs.

Who are we looking for?

We think you’ll be most successful if you’re curious, collaborative, and eager to get involved. You don’t need to have every answer—but you should be willing to ask thoughtful questions, learn quickly, and take ownership of your work.

  • You think creatively and are comfortable challenging conventional ideas. In fact, it’s best if you’re wholly unfamiliar with the concept of boxes.
  • You understand both established and emerging social media platforms, what brands and organizations are doing on them, and what they should consider doing next.
  • You can speak, write, and edit succinctly and compellingly.
  • You’re organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • You’re comfortable putting out fires, shifting priorities, and working quickly and thoughtfully.
  • You’re curious about the news, culture, brands, and issues shaping the world around us.
  • You understand what sets you apart and are excited to bring that perspective to the team.
  • You’re a collaborative teammate who enjoys contributing to a high-performing agency environment.

Skills: This is what you need to know—or be excited to learn—in this role.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring, media intelligence, and social listening platforms such as Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater, Talkwalker, Brandwatch, or Quid is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to delivering clear, accurate work.

What you’ll get from us

  • A Buddy: All new hires are paired with a buddy dedicated to making your time with us amazing.
  • Built-In Mentorship: Access to former interns through panels and learning sessions, along with advice on making the most of your experience.
  • Training and Coaching: Invitations to workshops and ongoing trainings designed to introduce you to the latest and greatest in the industry.
  • A Possible Career: Internships have the possibility of growing into a full-time position.
  • A Paycheck: This is a paid internship at 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Recent college graduate or equivalent related experience.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week January through March.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from Weber Shandwick’s Washington, DC office.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
