This role focuses on analyzing workload behavior, forecasting future capacity needs, identifying performance improvement opportunities, and guiding major technology initiatives impacting database performance and resiliency. You will be partnering across application development, infrastructure, architecture, and operations teams while providing data-driven recommendations that improve customer experience, system stability, and technology efficiency. By translating complex technical findings into clear business decisions, you will help ensure Fidelity’s most important platforms remain scalable, resilient, and cost-effective.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in Db2 for z/OS performance engineering, capacity planning, database infrastructure, systems programming, or production support within large-scale enterprise environments
  • Deep expertise in Db2 for z/OS architecture, Distributed Data Facility (DDF), SQL performance analysis, access path optimization, package management, thread processing, and subsystem tuning
  • Strong understanding of IBM z/OS, Parallel Sysplex, workload management, processor utilization, memory management, and system performance concepts
  • Experience analyzing performance and capacity data using tools such as IntelliMagic, SYSVIEW, OMEGAMON, SAS/MXG, Grafana, Power BI, Python, SQL, or similar platforms
  • Proven ability to developing capacity forecasts and performance models using workload growth trends, stress-testing results, business volumes, and modernization roadmaps
  • Experience leading production incident investigations, root-cause analysis, change assessments, and resiliency reviews in mission-critical environments
  • Ability to translating complex technical analysis into concise recommendations, risk assessments, and decision options for senior technology and business leaders
  • Experience partnering across database, application, infrastructure, storage, network, cloud, and architecture teams to address end-to-end performance challenges
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers, influencing technology strategy, and guiding cross-functional initiatives
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered

The Team

The Mainframe Capacity and Performance Engineering team is responsible for ensuring the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of Fidelity’s IBM mainframe ecosystem, which supports critical customer and business workloads across the firm. We provide performance analysis, capacity forecasting, system tuning, resiliency assessments, and advanced problem determination that help our technology organizations make informed decisions. Our team partners closely with application development, database engineering, infrastructure, storage, network, architecture, operations, and strategic vendor teams to support the health of some of Fidelity’s most business-critical platforms. We have a relentless commitment to our clients and leverage data-driven insights to improve performance, reduce operational risk, and support innovation across the enterprise.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
