The Heat Treat Operator position requires the operation of the hardening/tempering furnace and all associated equipment. The incumbent will possess and demonstrate the skills necessary to maintain production requirements and quality standards. This is a 1st shift opportunity. Position Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
Follow all environmental, health, and safety rules.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Ensure all activities are being followed in regards to the Process Control, Scheduling, Process Parameters, and Customer Requirements.
Ensure proper equipment operation and efficient scheduling.
Operate equipment as needed.
Shut down furnace process and identify any equipment issues.
Perform the duties required for any necessary documentation. Including, but not limited to, accurate and timely data entry, ticket creation, and signatures.
When necessary, move material by operating a forklift or using non-motorized devices.
Work with management to schedule maintenance as required and ensure equipment is being properly maintained.
Assist operators as needed.
Suggest process improvement ideas.
All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications-Education/Experience Required:
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the department.
Ability to use all gauges and gauging techniques required.
Knowledge in IATF16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.
Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards.
Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all required operator documentation.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.
Use math skills for blueprint reading, gauging and SPC.
Demonstrate the understanding of the manufacturing process and machine requirements to perform basic and repetitive work assignments.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and practices.
Understanding of neutral heat treatment effects and processing.
Thorough understanding of SPC. Ability to comprehend charts and graphs and react as necessary.
Knowledge in CQI-9 & Automotive heat treat standards.
Ability to legibly complete records and documentation.
Provide written and oral communication as needed.
HS Diploma, GED or relevant experience.
Fluent in English (both strong verbal and written communication skills).
Fork lift certified.
Basic math skills, able to use a calculator. Ability to convert hardness readings.
Basic fluency with editing and tracking software such as Microsoft Word, Excel or Google.
Preferred:
Experience operating multiple types of heat treating equipment.
Micrometers, calipers, hardness tester, tensile tester, cut-off saw, disc grinder, atmosphere analyzing equipment, oil testing equipment, computers etc.
