The posting

Overview

Frontera Space, an aerospace-focused startup, is building next-generation aircraft and spacecraft. Founded by Firefly Aerospace founder Tom Markusic, we are growing our engineering, manufacturing, and cyber and IT services businesses.

Help Build the Team That Builds Spacecraft.

The IT Systems Administrator is the primary on-site IT resource at headquarters, responsible for daily support and administration of cloud services, endpoints, and infrastructure. This hands-on position combines independent operational ownership with collaboration on complex projects supporting headquarters, the fabrication shop, and test facility.

What You’ll Do

• Own day-to-day employee IT support, troubleshooting, and onboarding/offboarding; procure, configure, deploy, track, and recover laptops, thin clients, peripherals, and other equipment.

• Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, accounts, groups, access permissions, MFA, and endpoint identities.

• Support AWS WorkSpaces, centralized thin-client management, cloud storage, and business applications; develop scripts and repeatable procedures where useful.

• Install, administer, and troubleshoot switches, firewalls, wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs, DNS/DHCP, structured cabling, patch panels, and network equipment.

• Support facility AV and communications, conference-room systems, surveillance, and electronic access control; assist with infrastructure at the fabrication shop and test facility.

• Coordinate with Engineering on connectivity for test systems; Engineering owns instrumentation, data acquisition, and test applications.

• Assist with cybersecurity monitoring, incident response, access controls, and CMMC/NIST SP 800-171 documentation and compliance activities.

• Document and submit non-preapproved infrastructure and security changes for Director of IT review and approval; maintain asset records, diagrams, configurations, and support procedures.

• Participate in technology projects, system migrations, vendor coordination, and infrastructure improvements across company facilities.

What Success Looks Like

• Employees receive dependable, timely support; onboarding and equipment deployment are consistent and well documented.

• Headquarters systems operate reliably, and the administrator independently resolves routine issues while escalating significant risks and complex problems.

• Infrastructure and security changes are controlled, approved, tested, and documented; the IT environment becomes more repeatable and scalable.

Employment Details

• Full-time, primarily on-site in Cedar Park, Texas; reports to the Director of IT and supports other company facilities as needed.

• Normal business hours generally apply; occasional evening, weekend, and after-hours work may be needed to support engineering, testing, maintenance, or critical incidents.

Requirements

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant direct IT systems administration, infrastructure, or technical support experience, with demonstrated ability to work independently.

• Hands-on Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration, Windows endpoint support, user provisioning, and troubleshooting of identity and authentication issues.

• Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switches, Wi-Fi, and VPNs) and practical experience installing or troubleshooting network hardware and cabling.

• Working knowledge of PowerShell, endpoint security, MFA, least-privilege principles, and technical documentation.

• Strong service orientation, clear communication, sound judgment, and willingness to handle both routine support and hands-on installation work.

Bonus Points (Preferred)

• AWS WorkSpaces, Dell Wyse Management Suite, Microsoft Intune, or Ubiquiti UniFi experience.

• Familiarity with Windows Server/Active Directory, AV/intercom systems, physical access control, surveillance, or low-voltage infrastructure.

• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, or defense; familiarity with CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, CUI, or ITAR requirements; relevant certifications or degree.

Technical Skills

• Microsoft 365 / Entra ID; Windows 11; AWS WorkSpaces / VDI; PowerShell; networking, VLANs, Wi-Fi, and VPNs; endpoint deployment and security; cabling and AV/communications troubleshooting.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
