The posting

Ko wai mātou – About us

Kia ora. We’re Foodies. You know New World, PAK’nSAVE, Gilmours and Four Square, right? That’s us!

With more than 320 stores and over 27,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Māui, Foodstuffs North Island is a co-operative proudly owned by our Members. Our purpose is simple – making sure New Zealanders get more out of life, and we’re driven by our aspiration to be one of New Zealand’s most customer-driven and productive retailers.

Te Tūranga – About the role

This is a highly influential, field-based role where you’ll partner closely with Butchery Managers & Store Owners across 35-40 PAK'nSAVE and New World Stores. You will focus on lifting knowledge and capability, improving category performance and delivering consistent operational excellence.

You’ll combine your technical butchery expertise, commercial acumen and coaching capability to:

  • Coach and mentor store teams to lift capability and performance
  • Analyse store & category data to identify opportunities and drive improvements
  • Build strong, credible relationships with department managers and owner/operators
  • Implement best practices in butchery operations, production, and food safety

Your week will typically include time in the office (our ‘all in’ day is Monday), followed by store visits across the region (Tuesday–Friday), with travel within your focus area of Waikato and Coromandel, with the wider North Island as needed.

You could be based in Auckland or the Waikato/Coromandel region, and how you plan your weeks is up to you! You will have everything you need to succeed, so you will need to be very comfortable working autonomously and be highly organised.

He kōrero mōu – About you

You’re a skilled butcher or butchery leader who knows how to get the best out of people and operations.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong butchery experience (ideally as a Butchery Manager or senior team member)
  • Solid understanding of meat cuts, yields, waste control, and production planning
  • A data-driven mindset with the ability to use insights to influence outcomes
  • Experience using SAP or similar systems in a retail environment
  • Exceptional people and coaching skills – you can influence, challenge, and inspire
  • Strong planning, organisation, and self-management capability
  • A full driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly

Ngā painga - What we offer

We’re committed to providing awesome experiences for our people, including offering a range of benefits

  • Free carparking - we’ve got over 1,000 carparks including EV plugs
  • Southern Cross plans for you and your family
  • Onsite café with subsidised meals, mini mart, 5% discount at our retail stores
  • Flexible working options, a day off on your birthday, lots of fun on site activities
  • Inhouse learning and development programmes and courses, flu vaccinations, and social network groups (we call them Tribes).

Experience awesome. Achieve awesome. Be awesomely you.

We’re proud to have a focus on Diversity & Inclusion here at Foodies and welcome courageous behaviour, encourage togetherness, inspire our people to be their best selves in our Foodies whānau.

We encourage you to apply with all your awesomeness and welcome your diverse background, including any disability, additional health and mental health needs, and/or neurodiversity.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
