The Opportunity

The Accountant, Treasury supports cash management, banking, and treasury operations across Forbes Bros. Group of Companies. This role is responsible for maintaining cash forecasts, preparing reconciliations, supporting financial reporting, and working with Finance, Payroll, Tax, and Operations to support accurate accounting, liquidity management, and strong financial controls.

This opportunity is well suited to an analytical accountant who enjoys investigating discrepancies, understanding cash movements, and improving financial processes. You will gain exposure to multiple entities and banking relationships while contributing to day-to-day treasury activities, reporting, and process improvements.

Key Elements of the Role

  • Monitor daily cash positions, maintain short-term cash flow forecasts, identify funding requirements, and assist with transfers between accounts and entities, including Canadian and U.S. dollar requirements.
  • Support banking relationships and the administration of credit facilities, guarantees, and letters of credit, and assist with monitoring banking fees, interest charges, and foreign exchange transactions.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, investigate outstanding items, record treasury journal entries, and reconcile related general ledger accounts and schedules.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities for cash, banking, debt, and interest accounts, ensuring accurate records and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Assist with electronic funds transfers, wires, and other payment activities, working with Accounts Payable and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and rejected transactions.
  • Maintain banking administration, including account openings and closures, signing authorities, user access, and documentation, in accordance with approval controls and segregation-of-duties requirements.
  • Prepare treasury reports, analyze cash movements and liquidity trends, investigate variances, and support working capital and cash management improvements.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of treasury procedures, internal controls, systems, and reporting workflows, including opportunities for automation and process efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external banking partners to support timely transactions, accurate reporting, and effective treasury operations.

What You’ll Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with exposure to treasury, cash management, banking, or financial accounting.
  • Experience with bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, payment processing, and financial reporting; exposure to cash forecasting is an asset.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and month-end close processes.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP or accounting systems.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate with Finance and non-Finance teams.
  • A CPA designation or progress toward one is an asset.
  • Experience in a multi-entity organization, Canadian and U.S. banking operations, or construction, utilities, infrastructure, and other project-based industries is an asset.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
