Job Description

The Integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (I-ERP) initiative is modernizing Finance and Purchasing capabilities by replacing legacy technology with modern, cloud-enabled solutions. A key part of this transformation is the modernization of invoicing and related business processes through SAP S/4HANA and cloud-based integration services.

As the Technical Product Manager – Middleware & Cloud Integration, you will own the technical design and delivery of middleware capabilities connecting legacy applications, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and SAP S/4HANA.

You will work closely with architecture, SAP, product, security, business, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into secure and reliable technical solutions. You will also provide technical leadership and oversight to supplier engineering teams, ensuring solutions meet established standards for architecture, development, testing, deployment, security, performance, and operational readiness.

The successful candidate will combine deep Java and cloud engineering expertise with enterprise integration architecture, technical leadership, and strong stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

Lead Middleware Engineering and Delivery

  • Lead the design and delivery of production-grade Java and Spring Boot microservices running on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Provide technical direction to internal and supplier engineering teams throughout design, development, testing, deployment, and production transition.
  • Review technical designs, application builds, code, test results, deployment plans, and operational documentation.
  • Ensure solutions meet established standards for scalability, resilience, maintainability, security, and performance.

Own Integration Architecture and Technical Design

  • Design middleware interfaces connecting legacy applications, cloud services, and SAP S/4HANA.
  • Define REST API contracts, synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns, data transformations, validation rules, and error-handling approaches.
  • Document significant architecture and design decisions in partnership with enterprise and solution architects.
  • Translate functional and non-functional requirements into actionable engineering designs.

Develop Cloud-Native Integration Solutions

  • Design and develop scalable middleware services using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native development practices.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and engineering guidance.
  • Design API-based and event-driven solutions using appropriate Google Cloud Platform services.

Build Secure Enterprise Integrations

  • Design and manage APIs using Apigee or comparable enterprise API-management platforms.
  • Implement authentication and authorization using Microsoft Entra ID and applicable enterprise security standards.
  • Use PostgreSQL and Google Cloud Platform services to support integration, staging, auditing, and processing requirements.
  • Ensure APIs and middleware applications comply with enterprise security and privacy requirements.

Engineer for Reliability

  • Implement resilient integration patterns, including idempotency, automated retries, exception handling, controlled reprocessing, and recovery.
  • Establish application logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, alerting, and error-management capabilities.
  • Support production readiness, incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous reliability improvements.

Map and Transform Enterprise Data

  • Define mappings to transform legacy data into formats required by SAP S/4HANA and other downstream platforms.
  • Establish field mappings, validation, enrichment, payload construction, and data-quality rules.
  • Partner with SAP, business, and engineering teams to validate integration requirements and data definitions.

Champion Engineering Excellence

  • Promote test-driven development, automated testing, secure coding, peer reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Establish automated quality gates and repeatable deployment practices.
  • Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated environment provisioning using Terraform or comparable technologies.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools where appropriate across requirements analysis, development, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting while complying with security, privacy, and quality requirements.

Collaborate and Mentor

  • Partner with architecture, SAP, product, security, engineering, supplier, and business teams.
  • Mentor engineers on Java, Spring Boot, Google Cloud Platform, API design, enterprise integration, and operational excellence.
  • Clearly communicate technical decisions, dependencies, risks, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience using Java.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing applications using Spring Boot or related Java technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud-native REST APIs.
  • Experience with enterprise API-management platforms such as Apigee.
  • 3+ years of cloud application development experience using Google Cloud Platform or another major cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience designing and supporting cloud-native applications, including containerized workloads and asynchronous or event-driven integration patterns.
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Terraform or comparable Infrastructure as Code tooling.
  • Experience with application observability, monitoring, production support, and incident management.
  • Demonstrated experience designing secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise integrations.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership across engineering teams and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Google Cloud services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Run Jobs, Cloud Scheduler, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Monitoring.
  • Experience integrating legacy or mainframe applications with SAP S/4HANA or another enterprise resource planning platform.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and managed container platforms such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Experience with Apache Kafka or comparable event-streaming and messaging technologies.
  • Experience with Angular or another modern front-end framework.
  • Experience overseeing supplier, vendor, or partner engineering teams.
  • Experience using AI-assisted software-development tools.
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), AI agents, AI development tools, or Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
