Senior Mental Health Clinician Grade: RPN4 Location: South East Metro, Based at Paul Mullen Centre, Clifton Hill $124,914 - $134,523 + super + benefits  Full-time fixed term until June 2027  Please Note: Applications will be assessed as received and position may close earlier than indicated. Community Forensic Mental Health Services Forensicare’s Community Forensic Mental Health Services provides programs and services for people who have a serious mental illness who have offended, or are at risk of offending, as well as those transitioning from Thomas Embling Hospital and Prisons into the community. Specialist forensic mental health services are provided through advice, consultation, assessment and treatment for people who present with a range of serious problem behaviours. Forensicare’s Community Forensic Mental Health services work alongside and in support of: Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services; justice agencies including Victoria Police, Corrections Victoria, Youth Justice and Victorian Courts; and private practitioners, primary health providers and other health providers. Position objective

The Senior Clinician will improve outcomes for consumers who have offending risks and mental illness and/or problem behaviours, and the families and carers through: Improving access to Forensicare’s specialist forensic mental health services; Coordination, referral pathways and transition support between specialist mental health care, correctional services and prisons; Improving the capability of key local services to manage offending risks of consumers and appropriately refer consumers for specialist assessment and treatment; Pathways into and out of Thomas Embling Hospital, to ensure that inpatient stays are no longer than necessary.

Key responsibilities

Proactively develop and maintain close professional relationships with the relevant AMHWS, and forensic clinical specialists. Proactively develop links with other mental health and social support services who provide services required to meet the needs of consumers and/or require forensic mental health support. Provide specialist primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services for AMHWS and other key stakeholders, including advanced specialist forensic mental health assessments, risk assessments, reports, and advice on the assessment and management of complex forensic mental health issues. Contribute to consumer risk management plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.  Provide case management on a shared care basis with AMHWS, and support Forensicare’s Community Transition and Treatment Program in the case management of consumers on extended care from Thomas Embling Hospital

Registered Nurse RPN4:Registered Psychiatric Nurse. Must have current unrestricted registration with AHPRA and a post-graduate Diploma qualification in mental health nursing or equivalent.
