I. POSITION OBJECTIVEThe Accounting Analyst is responsible for advanced sales and use tax compliance, audit defense, tax research, and general accounting analysis. The position independently analyzes complex taxability issues, ensures accurate and timely tax reporting and filings, coordinates and supports state and local tax audits, and identifies opportunities to mitigate tax risks and appropriately minimize tax liabilities. The role also performs advanced review and certification of purchase orders and payment requests, general ledger analysis and reconciliations, journal entries, account research, and month-end closing activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, company policies, and authorization requirements. This position provides training and guidance on accounting and tax matters, resolves complex accounting and tax issues, and provides management with analysis and recommendations to support business decisions and strengthen financial and tax compliance and leads or participates in special accounting and tax projects as assigned. II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY Sales and Use Tax Compliance, Research and Analysis: Responsible for managing complex sales and use tax compliance activities, including taxability analysis, tax research, regulatory monitoring, and accurate and timely tax filings. Evaluates the impact of changes in tax laws and regulations on company transactions and operations and maintains appropriate documentation to support tax positions.Advanced Transaction Review and Certification: Applies advanced accounting and tax knowledge to independently review, audit, and certify purchase orders, invoices, and payment requests, including account classification and tax treatment. Ensures compliance with company authorization requirements, internal policies, operating procedures, and accounting standards.General Ledger Analysis and Reconciliation: Performs detailed analysis and reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts, prepares and reviews journal entries, investigates variances and unusual transactions, and supports month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure accurate financial reporting.Tax Audit Defense and Regulatory Support: Coordinates and supports state and local sales and use tax audits by analyzing audit issues, preparing reconciliations and supporting documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and coordinating with internal departments and external tax advisors to resolve complex audit matters and minimize financial exposure.Accounting and Tax Research: Conducts research and analysis of complex accounting and tax matters and interprets applicable laws, regulations, accounting standards, and company policies. Provides recommendations and develops appropriate accounting or tax treatment for unusual or non-routine transactionsCross-Functional Training and Support: Provides training, guidance, and technical support to plant users and internal departments on accounting procedures, sales and use tax requirements, transaction taxability, documentation, and internal controls. Serves as a subject-matter resource for complex accounting and tax questions.Process Improvement and Special Projects: Identifies opportunities to improve accounting and tax processes, systems, reporting, and workflows. Participates in or leads accounting and tax-related projects, system enhancements, audits, and other special assignments to improve efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and internal controls.THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition. III. QUALIFICATIONSA. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA1. Previous Related Experience RequiredA minimum of 6-10 years of related experience in Accounting, Taxation, Finance or closely related field preferred, depending on education. Knowledge of Federal and State Tax regulations is a plus. 2. Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including mathematical calculations and data analysis.• Proficient in Microsoft Word.• Skilled in using internet search engines for research and information gathering.• Advance Knowledge of sales and state tax regulations, exemption, taxability.• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, financial reporting, account reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end closing procedures.• Experience with AS400 systems.• Highly self- motivated with a strong willingness to learn. 3. EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years of direct job-related experience required. Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of direct job-related experience preferred. Associates degree with 8 years of direct job-related experience. 4. Other Certification/Training Required• Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.• Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
