Title: Family Law Attorney Status: Full-Time | Hybrid Location: Austin, Texas Relocation: Relocation Assistance Available Salary: Salary to be discussed by Bryant Staffing Solutions Recruiter Bonus: Billable Hour-Based Incentive Compensation Visa Support: No Visa Sponsorship Available

Position Overview

Bryant Staffing Solutions is recruiting an experienced Family Law Attorney for a growing, well-established legal practice in Austin, Texas.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who enjoys managing complex family law matters, advocating for clients in court, and helping individuals navigate important life transitions.

The practice offers a collaborative environment with experienced paralegals, legal assistants, modern technology, and leadership committed to professional development and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

The successful candidate will independently manage contested family law cases, represent clients in litigation and mediation, and pursue practical resolutions while remaining prepared to advocate effectively at trial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage family law cases from initial consultation through final resolution.
  • Represent clients in contested divorce, child custody, property division, and related family law matters.
  • Prepare for and conduct hearings, contested proceedings, and trials.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Develop case strategies that protect clients' interests while encouraging reasonable settlements.
  • Participate in mediation and negotiate agreements when appropriate.
  • Provide clear legal guidance and maintain consistent communication with clients.
  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and fellow attorneys to ensure efficient case management.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and meet court deadlines.
  • Achieve a billable-hour expectation of approximately 120 hours per month (360 hours per quarter).
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, ethical practice, and client service.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas, in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience handling contested family law matters, particularly divorce cases.
  • Demonstrated experience appearing in court and handling family law litigation.
  • Ability to independently manage cases from beginning to end.
  • Experience negotiating settlements and participating in family law mediation.
  • Strong understanding of Texas family law procedures and court requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Comfortable managing billable-hour expectations and multiple active cases.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Important: Candidates must be prepared to handle courtroom responsibilities immediately. Experience limited to law clerk positions or litigation outside family law does not independently satisfy the experience requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling complex divorce, child custody, and prenuptial agreement matters.
  • Proven ability to conduct contested hearings and trials independently.
  • Strong background in negotiating favorable settlements and resolving disputes through mediation.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, high-volume family law practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with clients during emotionally challenging situations.
  • Experienced family law paralegals who have subsequently earned a JD and obtained Texas Bar admission may also be considered, particularly with 5 years of relevant experience.

Key Skills Required

  • Family Law Litigation and Trial Advocacy
  • Divorce and Child Custody Case Management
  • Mediation and Settlement Negotiation
  • Legal Research, Drafting, and Case Strategy
  • Client Communication and Relationship Management
  • Time Management and Billable-Hour Accountability
  • Collaboration and Problem-Solving

Work Schedule and Hybrid Flexibility

  • Full-time position based in Austin, Texas.
  • Hybrid schedule with one work-from-home day per week after the first six months.
  • Additional remote flexibility may be considered individually based on experience and business needs.
  • Supportive scheduling practices during demanding litigation periods.
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates moving to Austin.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
  • Paid vacation and public holidays
  • Life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance
  • Performance incentives based on billable hours, with eligibility for additional compensation beginning above 130 monthly billable hours
  • Mentorship and continuing professional development
  • Opportunities for career advancement
  • Collaborative team environment and administrative support
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangements

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
