Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Health & Safety Specialist to join our manufacturing facility. In this high-impact, onsite role, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site-wide health and safety programs, policies, and culture.

Partnering closely with cross-functional leadership, engineering, maintenance, and production teams, you will serve as the subject matter expert driving compliance with OSHA standards, risk reduction, incident prevention, and teammate engagement. The ideal candidate brings strong technical problem-solving capabilities, deep expertise in heavy-production environments, and an influential leadership style to foster a zero-incident culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development & Compliance: Develop, implement, and optimize workplace health and safety programs, policies, and standard operating procedures. Ensure strict alignment with OSHA regulations, local legal standards, and corporate policy.
  • Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Partner with plant operations to conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), safety audits, and site inspections across production and maintenance areas.
  • Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: Lead thorough investigations for injuries, illnesses, and near-miss incidents. Implement robust corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate repeat risks.
  • Training & Capability Building: Design and deliver engaging, high-impact safety training programs for teammates, contractors, and leadership.
  • Safety Culture & Engagement: Facilitate active safety committees and spearhead engagement initiatives that build accountability and increase teammate participation in hazard reporting.
  • Operational & Technical Safety: Oversee specialized safety domains including machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined spaces, hot work, industrial ergonomics, fall protection, and contractor safety management.
  • Regulatory Liaison & Reporting: Direct regulatory inspections, serve as the primary liaison with external safety authorities, and maintain rigorous OSHA recordkeeping and injury/illness logs.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Lead emergency response planning, drills, and crisis management activities across all shifts.
  • Data & Analytics: Track, analyze, and communicate safety metrics (TRIR, near-misses, observation trends, workers’ compensation data) to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

Must-Haves:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive health and safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy-production environment.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep expertise in OSHA standards, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Technical Mastery: Hands-on experience with LOTO, machine guarding, industrial ergonomics, confined space entry, hot work, and contractor safety programs.
  • Incident Management: Proven track record in root cause analysis, incident investigation methodologies, and corrective action execution.
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional leaders, operational teams, contractors, and regulatory inspectors.
  • Technical Proficiency: Fluent in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and safety data analytics tools.
  • Operational Flexibility: Ability to work in an active manufacturing setting and respond to off-shift incidents, emergencies, or audits when required.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)
  • First Aid / CPR / AED Instructor Certification

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
